Retorded Amount of flex now...

As many of you know, Jason (J-money$$$) and I built some heavy duty rear lower control arms with heim joints a couple weeks ago and they added a couple inches of more travel to the rear suspension:

The problem we had is the OME comfort shocks we were running weren't long enough and they limited the travel. We decided we needed to get rid of them fast because we didn't want to over-extend them and break them. So today we threw on some Tokico Trekmaster Landcruiser shocks (which are ~2" longer than the OMEs) and now I have some ridiculously awesome flex. Jason and I have the rear upper control arms in the works as well, so stay tuned for those. For now, here's some pics from today after we installed the Tokicos (BTW, the tires are on the ground and still getting traction in all of these pics)...

awesome! I'm suprised to see how stuffed that tire is considering you're running a shock that's 2" longer...are these shocks for a stock height FJ or for a lifted application? I wanna run 5150 Billies, but unsure if I should go for 4R ones or LC ones...

Thanks guys! LINY, they are Trekmasters for a '95 Landcruiser FJ80 (stock replacement). They are ~2" longer than my OME 4runner lift shocks (N86Cs) and ~4" longer than a stock 4runner shock. They're the same size as the Billies that everyone uses.. except they were $35/shock instead of $100! I must say that they feel great too. Maybe they won't last as long as the Billies, time will tell, but for a 1/3 of the price, that's ok.

Hmm...$35 each huh? Where'd you buy them from?
 
Discountautoshocks.com had them for $35 but they were out of stock a couple weeks ago, even though their site said "in stock". Just call them to make sure. It was going to be about a 2 week wait from discountautoshocks so I had autoanything.com match the price. Shipping was $11 so they were $81 total (from either site).

Just search for a '95 Lancruiser rear shock (FJ80 base model). Part # is GE4095

Awesome dude! I checked ebay before I got mine and I couldn't find any cheaper so you scored! BTW, the shocks don't come with the metal washers that "cup" the rubber bushings (for the top of the shocks). The shafts of these shocks are wider than my OMEs were (.5" or so) so I had to drill out the holes in the middle to make them fit. If you don't want to reuse yours, just get some ~1.25" diameter fender washers with a 1/2" hole from any hardware store. You'll need 4 of them.
 
Thanks. The tires stay on the ground longer so it actually feels a little less tippy if anything! It's hard to get a tire off the ground now in spots that were easy before.

Im really happy with how it all turned out. Tomorrow morning im going to hack up my old bumper so my 285's will stuff just like the pic of Brian's 255's

and on a side note you need to leave your bump stops on with this arm/ spring/shock combo that we are running. i flexed mine out without bumps and my spring fell out
