Yeah, I think I'll go with a rebuilt tranny too when the time comes. For now it seems to be good, I've never felt any slipping or weird shifting with it so I'm hoping to get to 300K with it. You just never know, but these A340s are good trannies.
I'm glad you chimed in because you reminded me of the other reason I wanted to rebuilt and start fresh. I really want to be able to do long overlanding trips and camp out of state with this thing again. I've been sticking to CA pretty much the last 2 1/2 years because it's too sketchy doing long trips in a high mileage engine that's had a intermittent miss. Back in July/Aug. '01, I took my '95 4runner up through CA, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alberta, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, and Arizona in 1 single month long trip! I wanna be able to do trips like that again! Well.. that is if I can get off work for a month straight again.. or at least a couple weeks.
I'm going to put my front sway bar back on and get some discos for it too so it'll handle better on the highway for road trips. Then I want to get a winch, and see if I need to lift the front anymore, get a rebuilt steering rack, and align it. I should be ready to do an expedition by Spring! I may just pay a visit to all you CO and Moab guys!
