Hey brian. I remember reading about rebuild kits for the Denso alternators at some point. Apparently it's usually just the brushes that wear out. Might be something to consider. IF nothing else you can rebuild your old one and have a good spare or maybe try to sell it to recoup some $.

I should be getting the TB & Alternator this week. I have to gather some parts for the big 3 and alternator work before I pull it all apart.

Don't believe it snows in SoCal? Neither did I until today.

This morning I woke up to the radio news and heard there was 8-10" fresh powder on Palomar Mtn. near Julian; roughly 1.5 hr drive from Carlsbad.

Since I had the spare cycles at work, I decided to make a day trip out of it.

Small update...

Going to finally replace my throttle-body w/ IAC this weekend. I will fully clean it and the MAF.

I have an appointment to get my 4Runner fully detailed (clayed, waxed, buffed, Teflon'd) next Tuesday. I religiously wax my 4Runner every 3-4 months with Meguires pro grade wax but it has been ~ 5 years since the 4Runner has been properly buffed. I hope to have them remove most of the minor surface stuff like oxidization, tree sap, minor micro-scratches ect.

Strange milestone - today I stepped back onto a Naval Base for the first time in 6 years. I visited the USNS Mercy for work - they are the customer. The ship is quite different than the Cruiser I was stationed on. The ship was huge and is run by civilians & Navy personnel.

Minor update ....


I finally added 3M tape to my sliders, kind of pain because it didn't stick very well. I copied another T4R member and used another tape to hold it on overnight.

I then installed front mud flaps I originally saw on BigFishAllDay's thread. I had to do some cutting as well but my limited flares are different than his 2001 SR5 Sport Flares. In the end I think I got it to work.

Are those mudflaps the highland Contura ones? I had seen BigFishAllDay's post as well and ordered mine last week. They should be arriving today .

Thanks everyone. The mudflaps are the Highland brand spotted on BFAD's thread.

I had to a bit of cutting though and I believe my limited Flares are definitely different than the Sport SR5 flares based on BFAD's pics.

Yes the truck is pretty clean in that picture but it will get dirty this weekend for sure.

Did you replace the TB and IACV? Did it solve your problem? On my phone, so I can't see or comment on the shiny sparkles.

I have delayed replacing the TB & IACV until next weekend. I just had it smogged but I didn't want to mess with it the weekend before my Anza-Borrego trip. I have the TB and new front / rear O2 sensors ready to be installed once I get back.
