Bridging head unit for center channel?

My center channel has been disconnected since the JBL system was done away with. I was wondering if I could do a bridged stereo connection straight from my aftermarket pioneer head unit to get the center going again? Just a thought that came to me after reading this old article:

If I had to guess I'd say it wouldn't work. Most head units will A. Not drive a low impedance setup and B. Have a protection circuit that will trip when you connect the left and right channels together. You will get no output typically. Why not look into a jbl ms8 that does processing and has the amp built in... You could wire it up super easy and you'd get your center back with a real center speaker signal.

That's kinda what I figured. As far as the MS-8 goes: that is very impressive. I've never seen anything like that. I'm going to have to look into it once my new job's paychecks start coming through. That looks like a really solid option. Thanks a lot!
