Brief AC Shut-off

Muddy Duck

New member
After driving through shallow water (<6in) with haste, my air conditioning condenser shut off and the "AC" light on the center stack started blinking. I turned off the engine and after restarting it all was well. Has anyone had any experience with this or know what caused it? Is there anything that needs checking or maintaining? Any help/knowledge/wisdom would be appreciated.

Happens in my Avalon too. Haven't experienced it in the 4runner yet, but in the car the consensus is it's a slipping belt. I haven't bothered tightening it up as it happens infrequently.

My guess is also a slipping belt. Although, I have never experienced this in my 4th gen or my limited time in my 5th gen. It could also be a loose or not so water proof connection. Double check the belt tensioner. If it is indeed a slipping belt, try swapping to a Goodyear Gatorback belt.
