Over the long weekend we did a couple legs of the WABDR - Carson to Chelan. Not many riders out, 1 group of 5, and 1 other pair. No trucks out camping, maybe 5 total day trippers around towns for the entire run.
Overall great trip and something I'd run again. I had to use 4wd a few times but the trip is largely a 2wd venture. Good info for anyone in WA/OR thinking of doing it. The route was free of trees except a snap we pulled off.
We picked up a 65 year old guy, 4 hours out and on top of a mountain near Chelan. He had been out all day so we changed our plans to camp and dropped him at his house.
Played around with my ebay SJCAM clone cam. Works remarkably well when no dash glare and sun angle is right. This is gigs of footage, sped up, and low quality exported. Happy with its performance
Notes
- outside Carlson there is a creek washed out, but can be driven around left
- Wenas road, don't bother. We took it since we have done Umtanum ridge. Its just an A to B route, nothing to see.
- Mission Peak (Blewet Pass to Winatchee) there is a washout and maybe 20' steep hill of loose rock. 4runner walked right up without slipping, but a Honda ridgeline couldn't make it and blew up his brakes.
- Winatchee detour, the left before town is a motorcycle track. Detour we took is a drop to Winatchee, and take back up Two Canyon Road to rejoin the road along East Form Mission Creek.
- outside Nile, a loose rock hill, stopped the group of 5 dual sports for a while. Not a big deal for a 4wd rig. They caught us on the blacktop outside Chelan.

Outside Packwood there was a washout that let me test the stuff of the new tires a bit.
