dropped the skids, painted them, changed all 3 gearboxes (i hate that job) removed my slim tanks, redid my air lines front locker and air quick connect. It was just too dusty in the back with the rear open all the time. Painted some sequoia rear calipers for rear brake conversion on tundra.
Going to redo all my 4runner wiring soon. I added it over time and it could be better.

I've decided to run a dual for camping. It would be nice to not worry about draining the starting battery when out.
I had read a lot about difference setups and decided I wanted a large main and a small backup starter. Some setups have 2 large mains and one is essentially not used. I read on several sites that people were running a small PC680 as a starter so I went with this. It is just enough to start the truck, but not much more. I picked up a tray, modified it a bit, and moved some the CC and ABS packs.
In terms of controller, I went with a blue sea 7620 for its remote switch, manual switch, and auto disconnect/connect behavior.
A few prelim pics. I've verified the tuck starts. I intend to mount the controlled to the side of the airbox.
Finished the relocation of the cruise control, the hold down, and all but the short negative lead. Mounted the controller to the airbox. The screws are the right side of the filter so no worries other than another hole, siliconed the screws.
Finished the install today.
I found these 5mm battery monitors on ebay from gammatronix. These will illuminate 3 colors and blink appropriately depending on charge of the battery. Between this and a AUX battery switch, I'll have most of the functionality of those massive controllers. A few dollar solution and less crap hanging on the dash.
Really like this mod. Like the idea of a small starter In a dual battery set up. Do you have any more info on this, how did you wire it?? Thanks in advance!

Objective: Install Surf field monitor, get cool 90s tech.
Method
The 7622 has a wiring diagram with it. Its an auto linking ACR so not much to the wiring except setting the remote link trigger and ground.
Method
- Wipe down with alcohol
- Apply adhesion promoter
- Paint with SEM tan colored paint
- Run 3 wires down A pillar
- Splice speedo wire
- Run temp sensor wire to front
- Mount temp sensor

Finally took the time to read through the whole thread, great mods and excellent documentation for the thread !
One question for you- are you still running the FJC rear coils? I have a brand new set for my '99 but then saw your pics of how they were loose on the mounts, this made me want to return mine and get the OME 906's but now after reading the entire thread, if you're still on those FJC springs maybe I'll rethink my decision about returning the springs that I got.

Havent been on much, been working the Tundra a lot, but still cruisin around in the 4runner most times. My tundra has been a garage queen, but its getting ready to roll soon.

I am running the FJ coils, no issues with them thus far
I had them shot at a local autobody shop. To reduce the cost I did all the un assembly and reassembly. Drive it down without door handles, bumpers and flares in the back, etc.

Put on the rail extensions today. I will get rid of the aero bars, but for now, I put them back on.
RTVed the rivnuts underneath, then again on the screw and on top of the nut when set the rail.
Interesting, I missed this entry. I wanted to do the same thing but I decided that the sheet metal there would be too weak to support rivnuts and they would pull out. Instead I'll use strips of 3M double sided tape to spread the load out more. Have you found any weakness in the rivnuts, with pounding off road use and weight up there?

I spent the other day tracing a leak and due to the amount of water, ordered a new complete carpet kit. Switching to black carpet.
Wow. Amazing rig! Hopefully I'll see you around town one day. Love those lights, I checked out the supplier you got them from. Seems kind of sketchy, any issues at all?
Can you possibly provide a bit more info on your winch mounting locations? I plan to switch my 2000 bumper for the earlier models. It appears to me your winch is mounted a bit higher then others I've seen behind the stock bumper.
Otherwise if you ever get chances to go wheeling Im new to WA so im eager to learn the trails here!

I live in the Bothell area, but i realize there may not be many trails in suburban Bothell area haha
Ive seen some good footage of Darrington near some power line trails. Figured one day I might take the Overland loop from Snoqualmie to Darrington and see if i can find them!
We should plan either a Christmas run or a New years run!

Bought new full carpet kit, arrived today - black w/ thicker backer. Looks great as its black black not charcoal black. Also going to add sound deadening while I am in there. Butyl matt (akin to dynamat) & ensolite on vertical, same + MLV on horizontals / trans tunnel. Suppose to knock down sound by half, maybe half again.
redid all my wiring... what a pain in the d. All super clean now, and less of a add, then add this, then that rats nest it was. All done with deutche connectors, labeled so I know where S is, reduced complexity and all.
Im outside Seattle - thankfully on the Eastside. Drop by if you get up here.

My winch sits in between the frame rails. Its ok for a straight pulls. Its mounted off the factory frame pulls and sits on a plate that is a piece of 3/8 C channel. I cut out the support on the bottom using the plate instead. There is a body support that I also cut out and put a piece of tube routed up in its place. It works, but its not super clean.
We should organize something in the seattle meet thread. Lots to do in PNW.
