Yes Brillo broke down and bought a plasma cutter. I should have bought one a few years ago as they really do speed up cutting steel. So much less damage then torches and loving every minute of using it.



Been wanting one of these, what brand/model did you get? Have you tested it to see if it really can cut the advertised thickness?

I am only on 110v at the moment that will cut up to 1/8 think. I dont have any 5/8 to try let. Being I just got it last week. It's going to take me time to give an honest review. This is a 110 / 240 volt cutter. So I pleased with it thus far. The cart it's on has crappy wheels on it . This one is a Titanium 110/240 plasma cutter from harbor freight. Being I dont weld commercially and use it on occasion. I believe it will suit my needs. On 110 it will go 15 to 16 amp. I doubt it let you goto 30 amp. On 220 it will go to 45 amps. So you can cut anything on a 4 runner with a 115v plug...

Cool, let us know how it works out. I've heard that the advertised rated cut thickness may not live up to real world scenarios, not specific to Harbor Freight machines just all in General.

Well it just saved my a pile of time. I changed the rear control arms in the rear and a bolt w as seized. So on 15 Amps and on 110. It melted the nut off. Then I sliced the bolt off about 1/4 from flush and ground it a little. It all fell apart and didnt melt the bushing out of the control arm like a torch would. Nor did it melt my bracket any..

Tetanus 1 just got 4 new control arms today. The one was already installed when I snapped the photo..

Nice. Yeah I usually use oxy acetylene torch especially on exhaust stuff or on things like diff/transfer drain plugs that get rounded off i just weld a nut on.

Yup. I really liked the non damage to my surrounding area. The heat was only were it needed to be.

Well. I done a few small projects since May here as it been in the 90s with high humidity which makes it extremely miserable to wear leather and weld..

Anyways here is a 3rd gen transmission crossmember that I replaced the nuts in welded back together and then sealed the steel with rust inhibitor and kb seal.

Here is a gas tank skid plate I redid for [MENTION=322551]Last Man Standing[/MENTION]. It was Tetanus 1 original with some rot holes and rusty sections. I hope he pleased with it.

Tetanus 1 hitch got descaled and corroseal coating today. The bottom of that hitch was replaced 5 years ago as it was completely rotted away... I descaled with an China freight air descaler then coated it with Corroseal. As you can see the converter was still curing when I took the last photo. For spending its life 21 years in the rust belt. That hitch is extremely solid yet. Granted I dont haul anything heavy on it anyhow.

The hitch even got some Frankenstein bolts on it for fluid film annual coatings

Then I started cleaning and resesealing my handmade inner rockers. I add some photos on what it looks after resealed.

I came across my center frame mount getting a little thin. When they go half normal thickness they either need replaced or thicken back up.

This what the frame bracket looks like now. I cut 1/8 inch plate. And welded the plates in to strengthen it. I just need to grind it down and seal it back bracket back up.

I did get that section all coated in corroseal. I am experimenting with it. This is what that area looks like now. Those body mounts are harder to paint. I going to recoat with a .5 inch brush..

[MENTION=318903]RandyBobandy[/MENTION] and I are completely stripping my parts rig. I was going to be silly but this is how far we got in about 6 hours or so thus far. So looks like a heater core change on these would be a very big task . We post the occasional photo until this rig is completely all parts..
