Well this weekend [MENTION=693474]Yeti2k3[/MENTION] and I. Got a replacement frame for Tetanus2.

I got the frame tucked away for a little while.

I finally got a set of inner rockers. Its extremely rare to find intact rockers in any yard in this state.

Frames are the same way. This was the first one I ever found. The row it was in is going to be crushed Tomorrow.

When was the last time you saw a 4 runner frame in any kind of shape in this state? Let alone rockers that the bottom pinch weld completely intact?

I could have got that all for $56 bucks a load.... If we weren't pulling your Lexus V8 on black Friday..

I said I was pulling that frame.... You didn't think I would do it.

The perfect rockers to drill the spot welds out of and send to Canada to be templated..... I been after a set of these for a few years now.

I along with [MENTION=693474]Yeti2k3[/MENTION] are rebuilding a 1st gen Tocuma frame. Hence why there hadn't been much activity in the last month..

Shitbox developed a miss in cylinder 5. So the fastest way to isolate the cause. Is to move the coil and plug to another cylinder. So I moved it to cylinder 1. Placing the plug and coil on cylinder 5 The intermittent miss stayed in cylinder 5.

We have 6k since this engine was changed. I did a quick compression check and was good.

So, I have a failing injector.


Got the O rings insulator Grommet and o rings from Toyota. Got the throttle body, etc, away from the fuel rail and snap a photo of the rail.

You can see how it had a slight seep.

So, I just resealed all the injectors. Replaced cylinder 5 injector with one of my 12 spares put it back together, and the miss is gone.

One day, there is still no miss. Was teaching [MENTION=693474]Yeti2k3[/MENTION] how to change the injectors on the V6. Good learning experience even though he serverly bruised his one nuckle.

Well, a month later. We got the frame bed section fixed. The first gen Tocuma is the last generation to share frame components with the 3rd gen. The frames are similar, but in the Tocuma, they open to a C channel before the rear arch. We only had 1/2 inch of steel holding both sides. So we couldn't put it on a lift to fix it

Ended up replacing 2 crossmembers. Safe T caping. The frame to the end of the arch. Rebuilding the 3rd crossmember

Then, finally, the gas tank and evap box going back in. Tank was raptor lined straps painted and greased, and sections of the frame were not only corroseal and kbs sealed to help seal off the steel. This is the first frame rebuild for [MENTION=693474]Yeti2k3[/MENTION]. Teaching him how to weld.
