Broken Dip Stick?

I've noticed an oil leak apparently coming from the tranny of my 04 v6 4 runner. I took it to a shop and the fellow told me that its due to a broken dip stick. He said that vibrations caused the dip stick to snap. Has anyone eve heard of a tranny leak because of a broken dip stick due to vibrations?

Makes sense if the tube worked loose and rubbed (wore through.) I've seen a leak from a rusted dip stick tube but it wasn't a Toy.

On the older 5VZ-FE V6, the dipstick tube is designed to come apart. If it wasn't, you'd never get the starter out. The top section sits in the bottom section, and there's an O-ring at the junction. The top piece is held in with a strap and a bolt, so it can't just pop out.

I really pulled to get the dipstick out of my 2006 V8 but now it won't go back in all the way. It stops about an inch away... thoughts?

Use a bigger hammer? LOL, just kidding!
The dipstick on my '04 V8 can be rather stubborn going back in sometimes. I just have to jiggle it around to get it back in that last in or so.

My son has a 2009 Corolla, and the dipstick tube broke on it above the mounting bracket. I could NOT get it out until the idea to lube it with oil made its way through my brain. Took my time lubing and twisting, and it came out pretty easy that way. Replaced with a new tube and o-ring, and again, lubrication helped a lot.
