Budbuilt rear bumper/tire carrier

Hi all.
E-mailed Bud this weekend and he advised me that the rear bumper/tire carrier that he made for gadget will be ready for sale in two weeks. Pic's should be on his web site at the end of this week. Didin't like what Shrockworks came out with. Don't think it would look good om my TE.

Cup holders? I was hoping for a holder for a bottle of single malt scotch.
He didn't give me a price but as you know, you get what you pay for. I also had a lot more ? but he was hard at work working on jigs and I want him to get this thig going. So patients.

Very timely that Bud is almost ready to accept rear bumper orders. I'm already talking to a local fabricator to build me something one-off but I may have to rethink this.

Anyone care to guess how much the BudBuilt rear bumper/tire carrier weighs? Those full steel rear quarter panels ain't going to be light if they're built to Bud's usual specification.
 
I also talked to Bud last week but kept quiet so he wouldn't get bombarded. I also sent detailed pics of the Gobi ladder on the hatch so that the swing outs on it can be made compatible, at Bud's request. Other features he mentioned- storage compartment in the bumper for dirty gloves/ropes, steps built into sides, rotopax compatibility.

He also said they are working like crazy to get a bunch of stuff finalized, so I figure it's best to let them do their thing and see what pops up in a couple of weeks!
 
Now this got me excited about getting a rear bumper again! Can't wait. And does anyone else have a problem loading the pictures on Bud's website?
 
Yeah- this is good news. Very much still in the design phase for mine and curious to see what the price will be. I'm thinking it will be more than$1600, simply as its a full replacement and not a bumper that goes on the top.

Not yet.... I will post some images/renderings when I do though. The problem at this stage in conjunction with the design, is cost. You see a full bumper replacement ( what I'm aiming for) is likely to cost a lot more than a bumper like shrockworks which fits around the stock one, more or less.

$1600 vs $3,000 ( yeah it's that kind of ball park)

Unfortunately 4runners are not the easiest bumpers to work with, certainly the rear one. I want my bumper to serve my purpose and design criteria, though I also want it to be available for those who may wish to purchase one. So, there you have it more or less at this stage.

Please throw any ideas or suggestions. :)
 
If I had a daily driver, so that I could live without the Runner for a while, it would definitely be going to 4x4labs for a rear bumper.

They are definitely still an option.... I LOVE their product!

Here was the line up:

Shrockworks- (not any more)
Slee Off Road- (At least 6 months out....)
Irbris Off Road- (Pretty much a one man show, these days. (ETA/)
RockWare
Armorology-( OKAY...)
4x4 Labs- 2nd choice- (in CA)
