Budbuilt sliders dont look so great on stock trail...

Just my opinion here :hiding:

I put on my budbuilt sliders today (bump-out and full plating) on my stock Trail and I thought it would look just as great as it looks on a lot of the members here that have it done that I stalk regularly... but it actually made the truck look a lot lower... and I can't explain it not as cool looking? Maybe I need to figure out everyone's signatures on the bottom of their post, so I understand what else they have on to make their trucks looks so sick with the sliders (stupid newb mistake:redbrickmaybe I need to put on spacers to make my duratracs stick out more, so that they are more even with the sliders... now I feel I have to get stage 2 Icon lift just to compliment the sliders but then the problem is I just got my 265 duratracs so then with the lift I'll have to sell the 265's and buy 285's to fill the wheel well which is another $1400 on top of the price of the lift and the install cause no way I could install the lift and trust it to actually drive after that.

Any slider that you would have put under the trail would make it appear lower. But like you said now it is time to raise the truck into the air.

I am sure you could sell your 265s when you get the lift and get some 285s. I have also seen lifted trucks with 265s ans spacers and it looks fine.

I had a stock trail at one point with shrockwork sliders and YES it does LOOK lower; however, sliders serve a purpose not just looks. My sliders saved my rocker / door panels at Rausch Creek, and I was thankful for them.

You went from nothing on the side of your truck (side steps, rocker panels basically) to sliders. Of course it looks lower.

Your trail edition is very capable stock, the sliders and skid plates will help protect your investment. If you dont want to lift it, don't - you'll probably be fine.

I agree! I think they look horrible. As a matter of fact, they look soooo bad that you should be soooo angry and ship them out to 4007-d Westfax Dr. Chantilly, VA.. 20151 ATTN. BOBBY.

Lots of members here, myself included, run stock size tires with a lift. My reason for staying with stock sized Duratracs - i drive 60-80 miles a day.

Lift it and keep the 265, she will still take you damn near any where you need/want to go.

It is time to convince your lady to go for the lift! Remember, want vs need. A lift is something you need for the safety of yourself and your family as opposed to a "want". arty:

PS - I'm still running the 265's on my rig with the Icon goodies and plan on running them until they wear out. There is a fender gap but its really not bad. Unless you can sell your 265 Dura's to someone for near what you paid for em, I would say just run the crap out of em.

Guess the question is why you installed sliders in the first place? If just for looks there are way cheaper lifts to get you the look you want. If for actual protection then its exactly where it should be.

Agreed. OP, if you've got a problem with the look, I'd say go with wheel spacers or a properly backspaced wheel to push the wheels out. Given the angle of your shots, I think that is what you don't like about it.

Otherwise, having seen a bunch of pics of aggressive 265s on lifted trucks on here, I think they fit the wheel well just fine and I'd be going that route myself.

Its not going to look good until you lift it. Go to 4 wheel parts on Decatur. They have Daystar kits. You can always pop those out keeping everything stock. If you like it you can always move up to Icon. Stay away from wheel spacers. Some shops here wont touch your wheels. Get a 9 inch rim with -12 offset. It will look alot better. Looks like a low rider now.
