If you want to see an ironic timing related to bug magnetism, come over to IL ina few years - when the periodical cicadas are out. On certain highway areas your car gets covered so much that it looks like you have an odd paintjob..

So.. what do you guys use to clean off these uninvited hood ornaments? I've tried all kinds of products in the past and still end up scrubbing and having to re-polish the paint. Clay bar works some of the time but it's a bit time consuming. Any decent products for in between washes?

Easiest way: Before washing, just take a wet soapy rag and soak the front end. Proceed to start washing the rest of the vehicle. In the middle of washing, re-soak the front end again. Wash the front end last and by that time you will have softened up the bugs so they will come right off.

Been there and done that. Lived in Ill for years. Your right. But they (Cicadas) only come out, what, every 7 or 14 years? Now in Florida, we have LOVE BUGS, twice a year, every year. Every bit as bad as the cicadas if not worse, as they are smaller but there are a lot more of them. ALL bugs will be worse this year as most all parts of the country had a really mild winter. Yes, even in Central Florida. NO freezes this past year. Usually we get a couple which knocks down a whole host of critters for the upcoming summer. We shall see.......be safe.

I always pre-soak but some of these buggers do not want to come off without a fight. I can't blame them really.
