Buhhhhh Bye Mud Flaps

Had severe rubbing on the front end with my Spyertrax and 265/65/17 BFG's. I removed the front mud guards and trimmed the rear. If you take the rear ones off there is a huge hole and it does not looked finished, so I took the OEM ones and trimmed them and put them back on. I thought I would share. As you can see I have plenty of clearance. BTW..also have the Toytec Ultimate Lift 3" maxed out with a 2" leveling kit added to the rear to "level" it out as well.

I also cut my mud flaps off because I thought they were ugly. The rear mud flaps on our 4Runners are so long they should have a chrome naked girl that are on nearly every 18 wheeler in the US and Canada.

Soooo, just curious...you shouldn't be getting any rubbing from a 265/65/17 as that's the stock tire size. Especially with lift. How bad was the rubbing?

I do not know if you off road much or not but my rear mud flaps save my paint on the lower rear quarter panel. I also have BFG all terrains and they pick up and throw samll rocks like crazy in the desert. With my lift there is a section of the quarter panel that gets blasted because the stock mud flap is to short to completly protect the panel. It looks like someone took a sandblster to panel.

I took mine off and trimmed them the exact same way. I think the OP did a better job of his though.
I'm about to lift the truck, but on one of my first outings, with stock height, it was the front mud flap that stopped me! So I was intent on losing them, with or without the lift. As I'm about to add wheel spacers, I'm thinking of using a clear bra material to protect the rear quarter panel and front doors.

One would think right? It has to do with the off set of my rims and spydertrax.

Oh, I see. Didn't realize you had different wheels. I was just curious because mine never rubbed even when I had 265/70/17's. Only when I put the 285's on I had to trim.

Exacto knife and for the thicker parts a coping saw-then trimmed that part up with the exacto knife.

I traced the outside line and used tin snips then a file to round the edge off. If I used an exacto knife I would have gone to the emergency room for stiches and the free mod would no longer be free.

for the love of god break out a dremel and cut your rear flaps flush with the body!! it looks so much more clean then having half a fender lip hanging out with no fender lol, just zip tie the bottom to the lowest part of the fender (you cant see it anyway) not to mention if your flexed out, your tires are gunna grab that outside lip and by bye screw holes and everything ! ive seen it happen! :cheers:

Again....this was not posted to show the cleanest and prettiest mud flap removal....it was to stop the constant rubbing of the front left and right tires when in a turn. Pics were posted to show what it looked like after surgery. I find that pics of any and all work done will help show others on this site as they have done for me. GOooooh RAVENS !!!!!!
