I used 1/2x 5/8 -18 pan hard bar kit , it comes with both hiem joint ends with weld in bungs , then ordered a 4ft section of the d.o.m tubing 1"1/4 od .x 1.010 id x .120 wall thickness. Also ordered 4 zinc plated 1/2 cone spacers, ...I had to drill out the bolt holes to 1/2 and put a few 1/2 washers on each side to tighten it all up. Then I powdercoated the bar super mirror red. All parts needed can be purchased from Rockkrawler 4 link kit, bearing, heim joints, heims, joint, jam nut, supply, rod ends

Looks good. couple questions....

Is one of the Heim's reverse thread so its adjustable on the truck? Not a necessity, but if you are trying to fine tune a suspension this can save you a lot of work removing to adjust.

Why give TRD credit for your work? Sign that ______ with a silver sharpie and clear coat it! You did a good job be proud of it. lol

Im not a fan of that because jam nuts come loose... ANd then you get you links growing/shrinking under the truck....

The only think i would say is if your dealing with heim joints buy the expensive ones. They all wear out. and they make one heck of a racket once they get a little play in them.

Dont make that bad boy much longer than stock or else your gas tank will most likely get attacked by the drive shaft

I like seeing others weld stuff up :)

Yes there reverse thread so its adj on the truck, and the jam nuts will be periodically checked, and I made it stock length because I have a panhard drop bracket and it sat level before , so it was made to same length as stock bar, and yes I shoukd have signed it lol overall I'm happy with it ,

I could see that, but if they are tight they shouldn't be moving on a regular basis, as long as you check them after you've been abusing things off road, or give them a look at oil change intervals you'll be okay. If you can't get them tight enough you could always weld a small hex section on the bar so you can hold it while tightening the jam nuts.

Yes the Heims will wear out, but even my first set of end links (which were not a planned upgrade) the ends were cheap hardware store shelf stock and those lasted close to a year with zero maintenance before becoming noisy.

I agree 100% that I like seeing some people doing their own fab.

Maybe its just mine, but im running hex bungs so you can tighten the jam nuts easier. A pipe wrench works good too. I also use red locktight and tighten them with a breaker bar on the wrench and have still had them come loose. Mine were good for about 3 months before getting noisy. But the links see more movement and stress than the panhard

Maybe you need a jam nut for your jam nut! That's crazy that they are coming loose that often on you. I would be tempted to add a lock washer in the mix if that was the case.

and yes the panhard does see a lot more movement than the end links. This last batch of end links I changed over to FK bearings 3piece Heim that hopefully will last for several years. Super nice guys and the product is available at mcmaster, might be worth looking into if you need to replace.

Please post a link to those ends.

Nice job! Now you have a panhard drop bracket and adjustable bar? :D

A thing I did when making tie rods/control arms/panhards is to do rosette welds onto the threaded weld bung. Drill out some 1/4" holes (2-3) on each end, then fill it with weld.

I'd be interested to see the articulation gains (if any?) with using a high misalignment spacer. The cone spacer will probably allow for sufficient rotation though.

Also to anyone else, you can purchase everything you need from McMaster Carr...They have a lot of options too, so you can spend a little or a lot depending. I'm fairly certain you can even buy the right length tubing.

Heims are noisy so get ready for it. It might not be as bad having them on the panhard, but my upper and lower links sound like someone playing a kazoo with a bad drummer. :) They are pretty quiet when it's cold outside though. I guess the tolerances get tighter.?

Another thing that I've had issues with.. A panhard drop bracket increases the leverage that the bar puts on the mount by a lot. I twisted mine out of shape very quickly. I would put a solid spacer in the old location if I was you so the mount doesn't fold in on itself.

You could saw the panhard bracket off and just extend the bar, but like j-money said, a longer panhard will make your driveshaft hit the gas tank/gas tank skid and that'll shear your zerk(s) off too. After everything, I've come to the conclusion that keeping a stock-length bar in the stock location works the best for off roading.

Yeah that's why I made and set the bar to stock length, so it would cause or add problems , I'm gunna go wheeling to day and il snap some photos of it in action,

I also thought about redoing and making all my links out of heim joints to but I'm not sure if I'm gunna yet or not. Brian your rig is sick iv always been glued to your build thread seems like your always doing some thing sweet or wheeling, it sucks here in upper ny not many places to wheel or people to wheel with,

Thanks man. If you do heims, I would recommend doing rubber bushings on the frame ends. When I had heim-to-heims they got too noisy for me to stand it.
