Bumper manufacturer scam. Buyer beware!

Like their nice looking website (http://www.kenmtn.com/), their service is premium. That is, until it comes time to ship out your product. Let me explain...

In August of 2006, I called and placed an order for a custom rear bumper for a 2002 Toyota 4 Runner. I was asked to place a deposit of 50% of the total amount. He was very helpful in picking the bumper and even gave suggestions on options.

I gladly gave hime my credit card for deposit and was told it would take about 8 weeks to fabricate.

On October 24th, I called him for an update and to order a front bumper for my 4 runner. My situation was a little difficult as I wanted to be able to hook a tow bar to this bumper. He worked hard with me to come up with a solution and again, took 50% down for this bumper.

Needless to say, it has been 5 months since I ordered the rear bumper and I have been trying to reach this company for the last two months. Their answering machine was full numerous times, I actually reached a live person once who said the guy I needed to speak with was sick and he would call me the next day.

Do NOT purchase any product from this flakey company or you will be in the same situation as me (over $700.00 spent for nothing!) Since it has been more than 60 days (hence the 8 week turn around), the credit card companies don't protect you. I have filed a claim in the small claims court and plan on getting some of my money back that way.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. Although the credit card company may not be able to assist you with the billing dispute, they may be able to assist in resolving your issue. Your credit card company has leverage and can put some pressure on this guy to credit your card back the deposit. If a merchant has enough complaints regarding credit card transactions, they can lose their ability to accept cards. Call your card co. back and request the billing disputes department, see if they will help you with a conference call to the merchant.

My credit card company once reversed a charge for me 6 months after the erroneous charge was made. Just ask them nicely and I'm sure they will help you.

Thank you guys for your comments! The rear bumper deposit is on my amex (online dispute said 60 days) I will call them. I have already contacted PayPal Master Charge for the front bumper and have the paperwork. I have also begun the paperwork for filing a lawsuit in the state of Georgia. One way or another, I hope to save everyone that is viewing this post, the same fate as me. When I first researched this company and their bumpers, I could find nothing. Turns out I don't know how to search well...

Mine was with my AMEX as well. It was a corporate card but that shouldn't make much of a difference. They are actually very quick with those sorts of things. Just explain to them that you have been working extensively with the company to get the issue resolved but they will not respond to you. Good luck!
