Bumper Rider

Like this. Yesterday me and the DW are riding along in 70 degree weather looking at homes and an Acura comes fast riding my bumper. I'm in a good mood so I ignore and I look up and he is ON my bumper. So like any Alaskan in the foreign land of California I slow him down......quickly.

He slams the horn, passes me on the left across the yellow in a residential neighborhood (I was going 30 in a 25.) Then something unique happens. Workers (city trucks) are trimming trees so orange cones line the right side. About 40 yards further they have a stop sign. He blows through that. About 100 yards further, the left hand turn lane light (in a school district) is RED. He blows through that too.

So my civic nature is inspired. Tres cute wife gets the camera and we get a pic of his license plate at the next stop (he is behind a truck at a RED) Ha!. I call it in to San Diego's finest (Shirley). They take the information. I was hoping for a cop to be in the area but dam no such good luck.

I think he was drunk. Would love to testify. Nice to be in my 4Runner instead of my Miata. Thinking about a bull bar for the rear since I am living now among these freaks of nature here in SoCal.:vader:

Unbelievable.

Little pissants like that do tend to get my blood boiling a little, especially now that I have a baby seat in the back! Cheers for calling it in :)

People like that are the reason one of these days I am just going to run those damned annoying little Hondas over...

I've seen a guy in a full bed, full cab 2500HD swerving in and out of traffic on a freeway on ramp going like 80 and not signaling as his damn truck rocked around like a boat in a storm and people nearly got run off the road.

People like this is the reason I haven't put an aftermarket bumper on the front or the rear yet. Because I'd probably stop faster when someone riding my ass or T-bone some that cut me off.

I just had a guy in a lowered BMW 2 seater cut in front of me this evening
I was on a road that goes down from 2 - 1 lanes he came up the median and Tried to cut in front of me, I am originally from New Jersey so I was not playing that I pulled up and as he started to turn towards me I think he saw my rock sliders because he all of a sudden took off back onto the median and cut off some other guy Maybe he moved out from San Diego lol

Its easily the single most annoying thing about living here. The weather is grand, the wages are good and the nightlife is great. Add to that the beaches and you have a really nice place to stay.

I have no idea what goes on in these peoples heads. They are inches away from a crash, a lawsuit and potentially being arrested. Yet, here they come like lemmings or moths.

In Alaska people do not do this. It is rare. For one they would slide into the other car in winter and another is that they recognize that the other car contains human beings who could be hurt if their car is hit.

I have yet to devise a real solution for this special member of the adult population. My wife said that she would have hit the brakes very hard (she was raised in a GM family from Detroit) Ha! I hope that she was kidding, but those feelings are sure present when these people do their "thing".

I always slow them down mostly very gently or move over if I can. One day a cop will see them riding my bumper and will take action. I just really want to look into their eyes to see if I can figure them out.

In any case, I am looking for a rear bumper add on if anyone has some suggestions. :police:

This is why I haven't put any kind of bull bar or push bumper on my truck, because I would be tempted to USE IT

7000lb rates hitch mount and leave the reciever in with a 2" ball attached. Stop quick and they will need a tow truck for there car.

Bad driver suck. I yell at my wife all the time for tail gating and try not to let her drive when I'm in the car as I feel she drives to close to people and brakes way to late.

When smaller cars are tailgating me, I usually tell the wife to make sure she has a good hold of her purse. Why, she always asks me. I just tell her i am about to do a daily brake check just to make sure they are in good working order. then she asks what kind of car the jackass behind us is driving :) atta girl.

we also have an area that is 2 lanes and quickly goes down to one lane right after a traffic light. this means to most people to speed up and see where you can slide into the correct lane that keeps going. this to me means get in the correct lane early and see who i can screw that thinks their time is more valuable than mine!!! its usually a little honda with a coffee can as a tailpipe with some punk kid in it. they dont like when they can't get in and have to ride behind me as i go do speed limit for the next 3 miles. does this make me an ass??? i don't care :) it makes me smile

I had an RX8 on my bumper too, it was rush hour traffic too, so alot of stopping and going. I didn't get worried though, I had two cops beside me.
