That's Harper7's rig. Look up his build on this forum. Dead give away for me is the limited lights on the rear view mirrors. I've seen it and ridden it. It's a terrific vehicle! I'd buy it if I didn't already have one!!!

I knew immediately as well. I've never met or interacted with him, but his truck is the primary reason I went with a Silver 4runner. Such a good lucking truck!
Wheeled with this rig in Colorado and Texas. It's been around, but not abused. What questions do you have? I'm sure the PO is on here.

Gary is a good guy who:
Has the knowledge and wrenching skills to things right and
Has the maintenance skills to keep it right
I would not hesitate to buy something used that he modded and he is one of the very few I would say about. That vehicle has had about 20 sets of tires on it lol.

I'll second this, I don’t know the owner personally or have much interaction on here (he seemed very active a little before my time). But the money in modifications on that 4runner is extremely high, if you don’t do the installs yourself then it gets almost astronomical. If you can negotiate the dealer down some that sweetens the pot more (there are a lot of buyers that are actually turned off by modifications due to either different tastes, potential abuse, or the desire to do them themselves). However “bros” or an enthusiast who doesn’t have the time or skills to do the install themselves will love this one.
Edit: I am sure there are situations where trading in makes sense due to high resale, tax savings , simply easier etc but I am always surprised to find highly modified vehicles on Dealer lots. My experience (1x) of selling a highly modified Miata was if you have the time you will get significantly more money back out of things if you sell private party. Now “significant” may only be a few thousand but that is enough to warrant at least an attempt for private sale in my book. **The original owner may have tried this or got a great trade in deal, I do not know or assume it was the wrong choice to sell to dealer but as mentioned in general I don’t think you get your value on trade in and they are often great buys for those who come across them on the dealer lots.

I am seriously very grateful for all of the input from y'all! It's really helped and I read the entire build thread last night and I happen to find this 4R gorgeous and what I've wanted. He seems very detail oriented like y'all have stated and he actually lives fairly close to where I live from what I can tell. I suppose it's time to go down and get s deal done :uzi:

i'm bummed to see that he's moved on. such a meticulous, well considered build. i would feel comfortable knowing Gary turned most every wrench on that rig.

I'd buy something the original owner modded up for sure. I couldn't remember the build thread until I saw the carbon fiber wrapped interior trim.
That's a nice rig, OP. I did the same thing you're thinking of doing (although the original owner isn't on here) and haven't regretted it once.

Update!
So upon dealing with the dealership some today I was informed something interesting. Apparently the car had been "semi bought" for about a week by a friend of Gary's and was then brought back. Sooo I'm curious if it was anyone that is known here and perhaps why it was taken and then brought back. Was there a swapping of parts that might not be noticed or an issue that was found? Still trying to get a hold of the po, anyone have contact info they could pm me? Thanks again in advance :doh:

Yes, I'd be weary of swapped parts that are hard to catch like 3rd members, etc...
