from the video id say yes, go see & drive it today! but of course see if they could make the price a little better.
 
Nice! Yeah I'd go look at that. To test the 4Lo, put it in neutral, turn the 4Lo actuator knob & wait for the blinking indicator on the dash to stop blinking and stay solid, then put it into drive. Also test the traction control button the exact same way.
 
The more I thought about it, I think I'll go check it out.
Someone on another board said, and a couple of others agreed that the dark leather is probably aftermarket, as they only offered tan and grey leather. Also, it's a Sport Edition, which did not have a leather option. I'm a little concerned about buying it with aftermarket parts, as I know I'd go with high quality but I don't know that this person did. I know, I know, it's just a hangup I have.
Since it already had the tube steps, I wouldn't feel like I had to get the Shrockworks Sliders right away. And that hood scoop looks pretty bada$$.
I was a little concerned about the mileage too, as it is 17k more than I have on my '06, but it's a really good price, even if they didn't budge on it. Here is the CarFax, if anyone didn't get a chance to look at it: CARFAX Vehicle History Report on JTEBT14R068029552
Since this is a 4x4 vehicle, could ya'll help me make a checklist of specific things to look for? (I know it's a lot to ask, but I've only bought new vehicles.)
1. Make sure it engages in all gears
2. Check for rust (Any particular places?)
 
u can get leather as a dealer installed option, katskinz is one brand they use & is very good. so i wouldnt worry about it even if it wasnt stock. heated seats & leather covered wheel, nice! tube steps look better than boards IMO, besides SW sliders will take 3 months to get so theres no such thing as right away when it comes to them, report looks good, scoop is way cool, wish mine had one, make sure the xreas isnt leaking, check for rust every where, make sure 4lo works, make sure all gauge & button lights work, i know ur not use to buying something with that many miles, but that isnt bad for a 4runner just remember the timing belt will need a change at around 90k. HELL, go drive it already! ur gonna love the smooth, quiet V8!

I'm hoping everythimg works out. The only other thing that worries me, aside from mileage, is that they don't mention any kind of warranty, which could be a deal breaker.
As far as XREAS, am I looking for leaks around the shocks?

Yes. That was something else (XREAS) that I learned about after I had paid for her. I drove on it for about 8 months whilst I spent my time here learning after suspension lifts. After I had paid for my Old Man Emu shocks & coils, the day my buddy and I started to look at things. My passenger side rear shock had started already to leak. (I have a picture if you have to see, but it's pretty obvious theres a leak at the top of the shock.) So I just yanked the whole system and have never looked back. If you purchase a warranty from the dealer, pay for it separate. Don't let them tack that on to the final financed price. I paid for mine at about $90 a month for a year. I got my moneys worth out of it as that warranty helped pay for some of those issues I wrote about above. Plus a few others I created. If they won't warranty it, say "Ok thanks. Have a nice rest of your day. Think I'm going to head on over to Name Of Another Local Dealer and see what they have." And walk out. Trust me, if they want to sell it, make them work for it. I'd go drive it anyway. I'd drive every different type of model they have on the lot. See if you can live without the Limited package. See if you have to have that scoop. See if you hate leather seats. etc. If you are taller, I've heard taller men HATE the sunroof as it takes away head clearance. Why, I don't know. All the Limited fluff is nice, but remember this stuff breaks down the road. My sunroof is fine, but it makes an odd noise now and then. I only open it by accident or if I have to on a perfect day now. Mostly just use the pop up. That plastic band eventually breaks. I would of preferred the cloth seats, but I LOVE the leather only seat heater. And I love my factory NAV. Go on a driving spree. Drive a Tacoma too and see if you like a truck better. Go have fun. Drive 2010 models just to say you did.
 
So I get down there for my appointment with the guy and he informs me that they sold the vehicle last night. What the heck?! He could have at least called me. This is the exact same thing that happened to my wife when she was buying a Corolla 4 years ago at the same dealer. I guess that's what I get for giving the, the benfit of the doubt.
 
4runners sell fast, especially one in that condition. i hate to say it, but u should of gone right away instead of waiting a couple days. it was only 4 miles from ur house, right?
 
unfortunately with our 3 month old and other things this week I didn't have time until today, especially since I wanted to get it checked out by another dealer. Oh well, I'll keep looking.
after doing research I really do like the Sport Edition, unfortunately they are really hard to come by.

No way they are going to call to let you know they sold it. He probably figured he could get you in the door on this 4Runner and sell you something else when it wasn't available. Not trying to paint all salesmen in a bad light but that is how it works sometimes. Not everybody is as picky as us.
 
I don't know that it was totally his fault, especially if that sales person didn't update the system and my guy didn't know.
Of course when he went to check and see why it was coming up as "Sold", he drove up in a silver one. When he came in he told me it was a Limited with JBL, etc, etc, but it had more miles and was older. I told him that 67k for a 2006 was my limit and walked out.
Since this is the second time this has happened, I think I'll be writing a letter/email to the dealership owner, not about sales person from today, but about the two identical bad experiences. I just need to figure out who that is, as it didn't say on the site page.
 
Okay so I'm going tomorrow to check out a 2004 Limited with 46k miles (asking $20,994) and a 2007 SR5 with 42k miles (asking $22,750). Both have a V6.
I'm leaning more towards the Limited because of the fact that it's a low mileage Limited, but I'm curious to see what you guys think.
 
*sigh* I'm not sure if I ticked off the car gods or what, but I'm the winner of the bad luck award for the week.
Since I found this 4Runner last night and didn't want to waste time like last week, I just went ahead and went to the dealer this morning. When I got down there, the guy couldn't find any record that they'd ever had the car. THEN WHY THE HECK IS IT ON YOUR WEBSITE AND CARS.COM?!
Oh well.
 
don't give up! i spent 2 months searching for mine, and eventually found a 2007 sport edition 4wd V8 for 18,900! it had high miles, but all of the maintenence was done by the previous owner, and the carfax was clean, interior/exterior looked flawless, it had NAV, and the rear DVD, XREAS etc... so i went for it. i did purchase a warranty because it had 100K miles on it, so now i'm covered bumper to bumper for another 4 years or 48k miles. they are out there, just be patient! and good luck.

and to confirm the sentiments regarding the V8, so worth it, night and day compared to the V6, plus with the 5spd auto, at 65mph, you're barely at 2k RPM's, hence the quiet ride :) nicest vehicle i have ever owned.

Same suggestions here:

1) Get a carfax. It will show many records from various service shops, but not all. $35 Watch for vehicles that may have come from a hurricane / flood / major accident.

2) Maintenance that should be done or planned on:
Timing Belt / water pump @ 90k miles - $650-$1100
Accessory Belt @ 90k miles - $200-$300
Tires - $800
Oil changes

3) Get the V8...it's a smooth engine and the gas mileage isn't much worse than the 6.

4) Watch out for northern cars for rust. Mine came out of NJ and I had to do the undercoating right away.

My mistakes are listed above! It's the best vehicle I've ever owned (from Mercedes to Ford)
 
Okay, a couple of last questions.
If I'm checking out an '06 with 60k miles, I shouldn't expect to see any rust underneath, correct? And how long can I expect the XREAS to last? 100k+?
