Well, good luck with that. I owned an E36 M3 from new. Even while under warranty it was a hassle. I've owned several other BMW's since then, and currently own one now, which is still under warranty. I will likely be selling the current one before it's warranty expires.

Now just for some perspective, I was an ASE Master Tech at one time, and have many friends and acquaintances that are still in the automotive repair business, and have the special tools I would need to fix whatever goes wrong. Even with the access to those friends and the special tools they own, it's just not worth the hassle to me to own a BMW beyond it's warranty.

If you want an inexpensive vehicle to own and operate, an old BMW is not a good choice.

If you truly want something that is good on gas, and won't break you with repair costs, I'd suggest a good used Corolla.

I've hit 100 in my 4runner. Although 100 in a truck isn't scary.
What is scary is sitting in one of my friends rice burners at 140. They just slam gears in. I feel like the car will fall apart.

Please confirm my eyes. Does he need wider tires or am I crazy? I think the OP should do this! Haha

You're fine, I've raced them up to 150mph in my Supra back in the day, and had a few other slightly lower speed run in's in a buddies RX-7 and a customers pretty damn quick VW. I'm sure we've all done plenty of stupid things in the past.

As far as bike coming up from behind and startling you, if your paying attention to traffic it should be pretty damn hard to startle you ever.

You should have consulted here before making such a rash decision. I previously owned a 2002 Land Rover Discovery. The Discovery didn't have a Check Engine light it had a Change Engine Light. After 3 years of ownership and 7K in repairs I sold it to save face. Have not had problem 1 with my 2001 T4R and just got done putting new Grapplers on it. Almost the best car I've ever owned. A 1996 Camry being the best mechanical wise. Good luck!

Hey guys thought I would check in. Give you a little update. 2 months of searching I found the one.

I'll be honest I had some second thoughts after selling my 4Runner and being car less for those months. The 4Runner was an amazing car and I do miss it, but I bought this car two days ago and I'm in love it fits me well.Anyway this was my first forum so I though I would drop by and say hi and check in with you guys.

Just a quick warning about the BMW forums ... in case you haven't already noticed I will warn you, the forum E46Post ect are like T4R but 1000x more D-bag-ish. Seriously huge d-bags on those sites. I bought a E90 a little over a year ago and started browsing the BMW forums ... wow.

Your new ride looks pretty sweet. I would paint those wheels gloss black or matching silver, but get rid of the flat grey/black. Also there is a cool site called BumperPlugs.com for fixing those drill holes in the front bumper.

Well I joined e46 fanatics today so I will see how that holds up, but yeah people with these cars tend to have some major egos. I had to deal with them on craigslist. It got hard at times.
