Cables attached to the shocks?

I'm new to 4Runners...I discovered cables coming of the shocks. I'm amusing they are hydraulic. What are they for?

Being that you have a Limited, it's the XREAS system which connects diagonal shocks for on-road handling:

Not cables, but hydraulic lines as mentioned. Do not disconnect unless you know how to do so without discharging the system or it will be a pricey repair.
