Calling all k02 owners 265 vs 275 ?

after reading this thread, has anyone taken the time to measure how tall and wide your tires actually are, mounted on the vehicle?

I'm curious in the actual difference between the c-rated 265 and the E rated 275. I know what BFG claims the measurements are, but mounted measurements are usually .5-1" smaller.



Point of reference, teh stock Dunlops (mine have 2500 miles) measure right around 30.5" tall on the vehicle, and closer to 31" when not on the vehicle (still on the rim).

Out of curiousity I measured my 265's and on my wider than stock wheels I'm at about 31 inches. FYI

Went with the 265s and could not be happier. Smooth ride and great gas mileage on their virgin trip to Reno from SF (Time will tell if this holds true...). The 275s scared me off with their potential balancing issues, power loss, and gas mileage hit, just not worth it to me in the long run for .5 of an inch height gain.

I think everyone has pondered this same question. Here is my 2 cents. I went with a different brand tire, but I think size is the issue here?

I went with the Firestone Destination AT in a 265/70/17 stock size, stock suspension. I did add 1.25" spacers on all 4's and had slight rubbing issues at full turn drivers side when backing up.

Looks awesome with the spacers and glad I didn't any bigger or else rubbing issues would have been bad!!!!

I think the issue is that most people equate 275s automatically with KO2s because there's so few other tires in that size.

And since KO2s in 275s only come E rated you have a huge difference between a C Rated 265 even when comparing apples to apples.

Everyone has preferences. Some want their T4R to ride like a truck. Some are really fat and have a lot of padding and don't notice the harsher ride. Some just don't want to admit they spent $1,000 on tires and their shit rides like shit. Whatever the reason, you're never going to get a consensus on 265 vs 275 KO2s, but as [MENTION=66316]1engineer[/MENTION] said it's just math. They weigh more - they will drive more slowly.

I would absolutely rock C Rated 275s on my T4R. It isn't about the size, it's the weight and ride quality of the E rated 275s. They slowed my shit way down, and it felt like a dump truck.

Agreed. The minute they make a 275 C Rated I would upgrade in a heartbeat...
it's all that the E Rating bring with it that scares me off (especially since my use case would hardly benefit from anything the E offers).

Just tossing this out there.... and I know it's slightly off the OP topic.

But if you want 275's without the weight why not go with the BFG KO 255/75R17 that come in C rated....?

They weigh almost the same as C rated 265 at 45.5lbs are according to the spec sheet measure 32" tall and 10" wide.

BFG KO 265/70R17 C rated 31" x 10.7" 45.5lbs

BFG KO 255/75r17 C rated 32" x 10" 45.5lbs

A tad thinner but and 1" taller.

Before I start a new thread, want to ask here some questions

I have a 16 trd pro with a stage 2 icon lift, adjusted to 2.5". I have 33s on it now but I get rub which drives me insane plus the spare won't fit my bumper.

Do you get any rub while turning at all? How is road noise and ride? I am looking at the 275/7017 sized LT tires, on sale now..

I've got an icon stage 2 with 2.5" of lift (trd pro) in the front and I have 285s up front..I get rubbing. It bugs the hell out of me.

Wondering if 275 bfg k02s will fix it

Wheel width and wheel offset/backspacing will play a role. What wheels are you on?

I'm going with 255s... with those who don't have the white letter sidewall- did you just mount them that way, or did you order black sidewall specifically? Probably a stupid question, but I really don't want the white letters showing.

I put white letters inside. I don't like white stuff on tires. It make them look like gangster shoes.

One side is white and the other side is black... same tire. Just have them mounted black side out.

This thing sucks for MPG anyways, so whatever.
Toyota has got to quit being so damned cheap and upgrade tranny and motors in their SUV's. Slow, gutless, unresponsive and crap mpg. Would love a diesel.

You're already complaining about the T4R being slow, gutless, unresponsive, and having crap mpg and you bought E rated KO2s larger than stock?
