Well it begins, started by removing my bumper and headlights, fan shroud and fan. Gonna have to pull air intake on new and old motor for the starter swap, messed up the plugs on the new starter, old one worked fine I guess. Also removed y pipe and new motor wires sadly they were half chopped off, would have loved a clean wire harness.

Also went today to look at a work van so I don't ruin my 4runner with various building supplies with my new construction job. Pretty sure it's a 1993 chevrolet g10 shorty van. Has the 4.3. Had been hit on the passenger front side but still runs and drives fine, gonna fix it and make it my own. Best of all $300 price tag. Was a buddy who does flooring daily driver the past 2 years. Gonna be mine probably on monday. First plans make some shelves in the back for tools and get a rack for the roof.. eventually wheels and vinyls for the sides always wanted a shorty cargo van

Idk how to do videos, but swapped the motor going to finish up tomorrow, didn't have the vacuum lines connected so it didn't stay running, but sounded so smooth. I'll post pics later

Man i really love the two tone with dark green. It's a really badass color combo. I just bought one in a light blue but also saw one for cheap up in Virginia, I might sell my other car and go get a second 4runner after seeing this. Secondly, what kind of tires do you have on these? I tried to look through pictures for a name brand but could never see them.

Ok motor swap was completed earlier today, forgot to post. New motor runs like a beast. Also did the air intake mod/resonator delete.

yes that's a big zip tie, I lost one of the clamps gonna change it tomorow...ish...hopefully i pick up my new old work van tomorow too. Gonna be selling all the old parts off the old motor if interested let me know. One more of the intake mod

This is for my 06' gx470, same 4.7l engine as you guys. I did this modification for two reasons 1) sound 2) experimentation.<br />

I did not expect or plan on on major hp gains or mpg increase. I mostly wanted a little more v8 growl and I wanted to experiment with doing things that didn't cost me much and that I could easily reverse and put back to stock form. <br />
<br />
I started with cutting a hole in the air box in the front, then on the side near the firewall where the cold air comes in, and then a small hole in the back near the firewall. I did not cut it open near the engine. Yes, I am aware that I am sucking in warmer air but I also remember the days of me having an open air element in my mr2. I forgot to take intake temp readings before this mod but I did after. For the most part, when cruising around my intake temp reading is very close to what the what the ambient air temp is according to my dash board thermometer for outside temp. I am using an obdII scanner with an iPhone app to measure air intake temps. If the ambient air was let's say 85 degrees, I have seen my air intake at highway speed be the same number or sometimes a little higher like around 88-90ish. Now, at a stop light, I have seen it go up much higher, but I believe that is normal operation.<br />

Then I did the rear exhaust resonator delete and then the AFE drop in filter. With these mods, I got a little more growl during heavier throttle and very little sound difference with cruising around. It was a nice, tasteful difference. Then I wanted to experiment with a modification that is similar to the AFE CAI or the TRD CAI in which those tubes are replaced. So, I made my own for around $50.<br />

I noticed a sound difference with this mod too, just another tad tweak from what I already did. Overall, unless it's placebo effect, which I acknowledge it could be, I like the sound, and I think the truck is running very well. I had no problems before, it was always smooth but now if feels like it goes down the road a little easier with less throttle. I am mostly easy on the throttle anyway so I'm not trying to increase my 1/4 mile times. <br />

I'll read through the articles more about the function of the resonator boxes but I am happy with this mod for $50 for what I designed it to do. I could not justify this type of mod for $200 or more. <br />

don't have to sale it to me. I could care less about gains, just thought it looked good for a cheaper mod. I have a 3" pipe coming out of the inlet on the air box pulling air from inside the cab, as a snorkel. Hoping this will tune the sound a little better durring full throttle. It gets a little noisy inside.

Well after the motor swap while cranking the motor the Trans lines going to the radiator weren't connected of course. .. so they pumped about 4.5 quarts on the floor before tweetle dee and tweetle dumb said anything. Filled the fluid back up and didn't th ink about it. Drove about 20 miles since swap and mishap then cel came on and it started shifting hard and staying in gear longer than it should. Cel was solinoid b high or something like that. So went to parts house and they don't show one for a 2003 v8... ofcourse.. so I'm searching online to purchase and fix the problem. . Thank God for the rapist van I bought for 300$ to work out of.. been driving it and feeling the nice free heat that came with it..
First thing I did was wash it, remove hub caps and paint the wheels, Idk if I like the color just what I had laying around. Also attempted to pull out the front end damage a little and fix the hood, I'll post pics later of the the before and after. I always wanted a shorty cargo van, I love this ugly thing and eventually I'll fix it up. Got some kenwood 6.5 speakers nib for 20$, so I fabd up some small boxes to mount them in the van, I'll post later. For having 289k miles and a 4.3 tbi this thing runs great. Also bought and I put on a new rear tire from lack of rotation of the po the inner tire was showing wire, gonna wait a week or two to buy another one for the other side.
Got to find some center caps to cover the hubs..
Next is try to repair the front end and put a headlight and blinker back on.. I'm assuming I'll go through a bag of zip ties in the process...lol
