So I was under the hood about to start cleaning and I saw this.

Looks like the piece the hose attaches to broke off into the hose. I don't even know what it is. If you can't tell, here is where it is.

Right behind the fuse box. Anybody? Is there a part number? What does it do? Any answers? Thank you!

It's a broken hose nipple on the moo-box fix for the charcoal canister. So find a way to stick it back on (buy nipple that will fit in there and jb weld or something like that) since that part is no longer available and problem solved!

Or you could maybe take the broken bit of box off and listen to the gentle hours long moo....

You won't so long as that nipple is broken and/or that box is on there. Without the little box on early 3rd gens the canister moos after the engine is shut off, sometimes for days.

Out of curiosity I switched the boxes on my 96 and 99. It didn't matter, the 96 kept mooing and the 99 was still mute.
I've since 'repaired' the 96 and it's quiet now, so the only write up I've got is how to make the moo stop.

I'm gonna get the 96 to ask people 'hey buddy, spare some change?' so it can start paying for its own mods.

On a side note, I drove off with my gas cap on my roof the other day and lost it. But no more check engine light and the buzzing sound when it's off is gone... Tempted to NOT replace it lol... :bash:

There's enough "meat" left at the hole that you could tap it and put an air hose fitting in it. Good as new.
