Can I change my Parking Light bulb to...

I have a 2007 4Runner SR5 and I think I have DRL (my amber blinker lights turn on as soon as the engine is on but actual headlights do not)

I saw a car recently that I want to say was a Scion that had regular ol' headlights and somewhere in the headlight assembly had a "soft" blue light. Im almost positive it was stock because of the person driving it (didnt seem like they cared about stuff like that).

The blue light was NOT from the headlight bulb. That was a plain halogen bulb. It was an additional blue light that didn't change the entire color of the headlight assembly.

I thought it was a neat and simple lil' mod and I figured I could change my parking lights to mimic that? My Blinker corner light things are always on already and even when I have my parking lights off, those amber corners are still on so there would never be an issue of safety.

Can I do this or will it change the output color of my headlights if I use an LED?



P.S. Can someone confirm if I have DRL or not? I thought DRLs were headlights that turned on immediately but Im wondering if my amber blinker things count?

They are DRL's and most states make you have amber turn signals. Many people "white them out" and put clear bulbs in there...or clear lenses with amber bulbs but if you were to change the color to blue or something else a cop could pull you over for it.

I see what you are saying you would rather have a different kind of DRL than the amber one? There are some various ways. I think the ebay "halo" headlights use the halo's for DRL's. There are some led solutions. But, you would have to find a way to wire them in, and it may be a pain. Good luck!

i have the halos and i had the installer hook the halos and angel eyes up to the parking lights. i have the regular amber DRLs and if I turn the parking lights on, the amber lights, halos and angel eyes, and taillights are lit.

Yes, you have DRL.

Yes you can change the parking light to a white LED, it works I tried but I am not sure if law requires the parking light to be amber. The bulb is a 192. I only had one spare white LED and for giggles tried it. Once I order a few more LED bulbs and after a talk with a cop I may install them because it was a nice look.
