Can I install a gobi rack in a parking lot?

Gobi Stealth just came in. I do not think I will be able to fit it in my cargo, so I am contemplating installing in the parking lot of Rebel offroad. Do you guys think this is a good idea?

And it suggests using Silicone. does anyone know if this is a requirement?

Silicone will prevent leaks and rust. I installed a couple in a driveway.

It's easy to install and I also did mine in the driveway at the house but you will need a few people to help you lift it onto the roof

The only time I ever used my stock roof rack was to load my Baja Rack for the trip home. Parking lot install would be easy - shouldn't take more than a half hour to an hour if someone is giving you a hand.

Silicone is NOT needed. It will NOT prevent rust, as there is no rust to prevent for where the particular silicone was applied.

Yes it can, that is how I installed mine, read the directions and make sure you have all the tools etc that you need. I did have to ask the freight guys for a couple minutes of their time to help get it on the roof other then that it is a 1 person job.

I installed mine completely on my own, including lifting the rack, in a few hours. Doing it in a parking lot shouldn't be an issue provided they won't mind, you don't run out of light and have a plan for all the trash. There's a pallet and lots of cardboard to dispose of.

I say go for it!!

I would recommend a hammer drill to make the holes in the parking lot. They work better on concrete than a regular drill does. I don't recommend doing it where people may drive or park. Not sure if silicone will help seal the concrete or not. If that's really where you want to put it..... :hiding:

Anyway, OP, if they suggest silicone, use silicone, don't ask me how I know...
