Can KDSS activate in 2H?

I would like to know if the KDSS system on my 4R will activate when I am not in 4wd mode. I have to jump curbs often in the city but I do not plan to use 4WD and KDSS would come in handy. Thanks :jump:


p.s. Would I know when KDSS is active? Would there be a sound or would I feel it?

would I hear or feel something activating? What do you think the minimum necessary conditions would be for KDSS to activate. I know that it is always active but I assumed it would not actually lift my vehicle till certain conditions are met.

It won't lift your vehicle any when it is working and I don't think you will feel it working ala ATRAC. I don't have any experience with it myself since I have an SR5, just know it works all the time.

yes you are right, I misspoke. I know it doesn't lift the vehicle more like it helps the tire find the ground. thanks for helping :nerd:

There are some other threads on this. But, I'm not sure flex is actually increased with KDSS vs. non-KDSS. It's more that flex is maintained with a much heavier sway bar than non-KDSS models; giving much better handling on the street and great offroad performance. Am I wrong?

how do you like your Weathertech liners? Could you take a pic? I'm thinking of getting the full set minus the trunk .

I have the "all weather floormats" and cargo liner. The floormats are fine and they hold-up well; my last set lasted about 6 years. I'm actually thinking about switching to the digitalfit liners because my dogs' hair is hell to get out of the carpet. I'm not real happy with the cargo liner because it slides around and sometimes catches in the rear hatch. I plan to fix that with some velcro.

Alas, my wife won't let me take a photo of the same ones in our 4R since it's a total mess. The carpet under the mats is nice though.

ETA: KDSS is indeed always active, and doesn't increase suspension travel per-se. It gives the same suspension travel as the other 4R models, but allows for better handling because of the thicker sway bar. I certainly have not heard a noise from mine, it's totally transparent. My TE also seems to lean less in off-camber situations than my buddy's SR5, although I have not confirmed that with any sort of measuring equipment, maybe it's because his seats are softer.

HIGHLY recommend the Husky liners. Had Weathertechs in the past. Husky is much better IMO.
