Again, much of it is based on knowing how to drive in it and what to try to stay away from. Sort of like driving on snow or ice when you've never done it before. It's a different surface and so you can't drive on it like you do pavement. Don't panic and hit the gas and spin yourself into worse trouble, things like that. I'm not saying don't air down your tires, I'm just saying I never have and never have with many different vehicles and have never gotten stuck in the sand. Airing down might help the learning curve a bit. But, for those of us riding on nitrogen filled tires, it's more of a pain to do.
Watching/hearing those boards go crunch made my heart hurt..... Oh yeah, and rolling the 4R was dumb too..
I kow this is now old, but I wanted to post and just say thanks for the info. Saved myself $170 by taking ya'lls advice and just driving the 4 runner. Finding th horses was stupid easy so no guide required either.
All in all I just left it in 4 high and didn't touch tire pressure. It drove fine in the hard wet sand and through the dry deeper stuff up near the dunes. Didn't had any problems at all.

Luckily, you'll be able to refill with 78% nitrogen for free. :biggrin2:
Yea I know, but my wife doesn't understand that, I tried to explain it to her.
It was easier to just let the air in.
