Can you guys help me make my emblems black? (PICS INCLUDED!)

Alright i've decided to plasti-dip my emblems black after viewing this thread: DIY - Matte Black Emblems - Plastidip, no emblem removal required! - Club Lexus Forums

It looks too easy, especially since you dont have to remove the emblems.

However, i provided pics because you can see there are extra emblems added around where it says "sr5" on the side and "4runner" on the back. How do i remove those? They were just strong adhesive aftermarket emblem stick on things i bought like 3 years ago, but i want to remove them and plasti-dip the real emblems. What's the safest way to remove these without ruining the paint?
Also, is plasti-dip durable? It doesnt wear off easily does it?

Aww darn! I forgot i put a chrome license plate frame on the front and back! Is it possible to plasti-dip those too? Does that look good or should i just leave it alone?

I did plastic dip on the SE grill on my '07 monthes ago. still holding up. No prep or sanding. chrome is not a problem.

X2 on PlastiDip but I did the front grill and the rear piece that the emblem is on, did that a few weeks ago, I debadged the rig pretety much right after I got it.

Thanks guys, i just finished picking off the last bits of plasti-dip from around the emblems and it looks great! I still have to do the license plate frames and the back emblem got a little bit messed up on the inside, so i might have to redo that one, otherwise it looks awesome!

...BTW how long does this stuff last? Maybe it still needs to dry a bit, but i feel like i can still go up to the emblems and scratch the plasti-dip off easily, now im scared of rainstorms!

In the past ive used fishing line to cut the emblem from the adhesive then use Goo Gone to remove the adhesive from the paint. Very easy. :cheers:

thanks for the advice. I actually ended up spraying it down with soapy water then pulled it off and used the soft side of the sponge to get rid of the sticky adhesive stuck on the paint. Took some time but it worked!

Nice write-up...Looks nice with the silver color of the truck! I'm considering this as well though mine wouldn't really have a good contrast. Seems pretty straightforward.

Thanks! I've had them black now for quite a few days and it has been so hot here that the plasti-dip has stuck to the emblems very well. Those aren't peeling or fading away anytime soon! Tomorrow i just might end up doing my rims! (I'll post pics if i do)

Thanks. I just finished debadging the sides. Next Ill be doing this to the toyota and 4runner on the back. it'll be black on black. the only chrome will be the T's.
