Can you install a Lexus (or anyone elses) key fob system on a T4R?

I just bought my first T4R and I love it! It is a 2006 SR5! I had an '05 Jeep Grand before this and I am very happy with my T4R! One of the things that I have read on different threads is that some people don't like the key fobs that come with the T4Rs and I have to agree. I have set off my alarm and unlocked my doors more than I can count in the 2 weeks that I have had the T4R and I never had that problem with my Jeep. For some reason the buttons are more sensitive or something so it keeps getting set off when they are in my pocket.

So that leads me to wonder if there is anyway to use another dealer's key fob in a T4R. I know that using the key fob alone won't work because you will need the receiver part in the vehicle itself to communicate with the fob. But how hard could it be to get the receiver part from Lexus or Jeep or Audi so that you could use their key fobs (i.e. all in one and not a seperate key and key fob)? If all the other parts don't need to be changed out (the door lock mechanized pieces, etc) then could it be done? I would love to carry one key/key fob like the ones I have attached and have it work with my T4R! Thanks to anyone who can shed some light on this.

you can also put a rubber case over the stock fob, it makes the buttons alot less likely to be pressed by accident when in your pocket.

Before anybody recommends it, I bought one of those flip style keys/fobs off eBay, and it was a piece of crap. Couldn't program the keyless entry part, and it was just poorly made to boot.

They did take it back without problem, though.

The only thing I can recommend is talk to a few different car alarm installers. I know it's possible to use one fob to lock/unlock multiple vehicles and the installer I talked to last weekend didn't seem to think it was a big deal to replace the factory fob.

I had the same problem with the 4Runner remote being too sensitive.
The RemoteTote did the trick for me. Got it at H and A Accessories, near the bottom of this page. H and A also has a silicone remote cover on this page.

I got it for my 2007 Camry. When I saw it on the website, I thought it was neat, but after using it for just a few days, it's bulky & since it's rubber, it collects dust like krazy. I'm so glad I never got it for my 4Runner.

For my 4Runner...I actually put my key & remote into this Case Logic memory card holder haha. I dropped that holder so many times, it saved my key & remote from getting banged up.
