Can you post some pictures of lifted 4runners

Yeah dude, I have...thats why I don't like them!

then tell me if the body mounts are so weak due to bodylifts, then how havent ppl like Abq jim, BruceTS, Bighead, and me broke our mounts since We offroad our shit beyond belief and are hitting 8-10 trails in CO, AZ, and the rest of the area.

with the right hardware, hdpe pucks, and right install, it shouldnt even freakin matter.

oh and 2 out of those 4 mentioned, have dual cases

i have a single case but its a 5:1 crawlbox which still gets me a 100:1 crawlratio.

but all 4 of us have front and rear lockers.

Hey, I didn't say they would give out right away, I just said it does put more stress on the mounts, and it will weaken with time.

If you're doing 8-10 trails, then you have a suspention lift also, and have swapped out your IFS with a straight axle...so doing a body lift will probably help you get that extra room you may need and is a dedicated 4x4. Doing a body lift for extra clearance is not the way to go.

I have a body lift as well as a suspension lift, and i actually jump my runner,(if anyone has seen my video)

Hey mano, I wouldn't mind seeing the video!

Maybe Im being a little hard on the body lift, but I guess the point I was trying to make is that if you have a stock vehicle and are looking for more clearance, a body lift isn't exactly the way to go.

ive done a "8-10" trail in my little 2.5" suspension lifted 4runner... and i still have IFS, mine is a daily driver and weekend warrior... straight axles are not necessary, but rather driving skill....

oh, and ive been wheeling for quite some time now and i understand your point about the bumpers not lining up and the frame showing even more, and those are the ONLY reasons i havent done one yet, and i havent rulled it out... still contemplating a 1" BL to help clear my 33"s at full compression

and how does a body lift put any more stress on the mounts if its made correctly? look at your body mounts and i bet they are at least a 1" puck to keep the body from touching the frame...

now dont get me wrong, i disagree with anything over 2" with the BL's, and i would rather cut my body than do that, but that is only my opinion...

as said from runnerup, their is already some space between the body and frame, about 1/2inch

and all of those 4 rigs are still IFS.

I thought this thread was pics of lifted 4runners not pissing on each others ideas.
Either way heres a couple of mine. :)

it's not pissing on eachothers ideas buddy it's correcting some obviously mistaken facts. that's the purpose of a forum, if no one stepped in the author of this thread would be inheriting WRONG information, we can't just sit by and watch that happen! hahaha

nice LT, getting glass for the front anytime soon?

Thanks, but what makes you think I need glass? :D ... Your right, Total Chaos makes a killer suspension system and hopefully I'll have some fenders on her before the 1000. I purchased a used pair off of race_dezert but they didn't fit around the marker lights, angle is all wrong.

They are not mistaken facts, I assure you!
What can say, Im just stated what I have seen before, not just pulling this shit out of my ass.

My basic point was, that if someone wants more clearance for some off-roading at any level...a suspension lift is what you would want, a body lift isn't going to give you any more clearance, the frame is still going to be stock hight.

he doesn't use it for offroading...just on road driving and some light mountainous terrain, not a big enough reason to buy a new suspension. he's putting tires on regardless. bigger tires will lift his frame off the ground enough to satisfy his clearance needs. a 2" body lift will cost less than 250 and will get the job done.

you are verrrrry mistaken, yes a bodylift does not increase frame height, however it does increase clearance... why?? allows for bigger tires, and bigger tires is your only chance at more clearance under the pumpkin.

does a suspension lift increase clearance for tires? no it does not, reason being compression goes fully stuffed even with stock suspesions specs, only way to increase this would be to add bigger bumpstops or balljoint spacers.

not trying to get on to you but you are giving some misinformation here.

Just my 2cents: Who needs a body lift when sawzaa blades are much cheaper? :biggrin2:

Usually your diff is going to hit something else (spare, fuel cell, links into frame, frame brace ect) way before it hits the body.

I've never used a body lift but I did sleep at a holiday inn express last night.

dont forget oil pan is in the way on tacomas and 4runners when SASed

also the ability to lift the drivetrain, mines .5 inchs from being a total flat belly with my case clocked 10 degrees.

I hate to say this and am really not trying to start a pissing match but you are on CRACK. I would never recomend a body lift for someone's vehicle even if it just was a pavement princess.

A suspension lift is the only way to go if you plan on keeping your Runner for any length of time.

BTW, you change the up-travel (could be just with simple bumpstops) with a suspension lift.

im on crack? BruceTS has a longtravel kit and has had his truck off the ground numerous times and still has a 1.5" bodylift

seriously inless you have any knowledge to back that up, dont say anything, i just pointed that out with bumpstops, you pretty much just said the same thing I already had.

thanks for reminding me

WELCOME! What year did you get? I wanna see some pics! Where you is?

You will find everything you wanna know if you just search it on this website. I started out with the factory 4runner and have modified, customized and still going. Anytime I have a question about my runner I just search it here and I find out more information, comments and reviews than I needed in the first place from bike hitch questions, to lifts, to tires, to bulbs, to racks, you name it, its in here!

I put some pics of my truck up. I need to take some more up to date pics, esp after todays events! My brother, dad and me put on 1 1/2'' wheel spacers today to broaden the stance. Kinda traumatic really. Had to do a lot of trimming and still need to do some more. This is because of the monster tires I just had to have. And after a 3/2 spacer lift from Jason Burtman at Burtman Industries (who I and many others on this site HIGHLY recommend for aftermarket Toyota parts). I have the 3/2 Cornfed spacer lift he sells. Best price on the web, fast shipping and excellent customer service. Then I have Cooper STT 285/75/17's - Too big really, I should have gone a single size smaller but def would stick to this make and model - KILLER TIRES! They are a real eye catcher and head turner and get compliments on them all the time.

What else?

Looks good. Did you end up doing wheel spacers? I can't tell.

Here is this same lift: http://www.burtmanindustries.com/zoomprod.php?id=4run_03_up_liftkit
