Captain Texas build thread

I forgot to put this in the build as well but I de-badged my runner last week and it came out pretty well. There was a little bit of glue residue from the Toyota and 4Runner decals but I think those have come off over time.

I'm wanting to do that type of install for my CB as well. Posting the install would help tremendously!

I'll try to write it up sometime today or tomorrow. I'll try to go into as much detail as possible.

If you don't have a 3rd row option it is much easier to open the back panels and thread the coax though. If you do, like me, you can make it work.

Gave it about a weeks time and my Gobi ladder showed up in the mail! I was fairly surprised that I got it quick (one week from when I ordered it). Strange thing was that I never did get an email confirmation from Gobi about the order even being placed. Didn't see money come out of my account either until just now.

I'll be installing it tomorrow, really excited. Next mod will probably be some ditch lights with CBI ditch light mounts. :thumb:

Here are some pics. The ladder came really well packed, pretty happy about that.

Got the ladder installed yesterday, and while it looks great, I had a problem reading the directions... or the lack there of.

It says in the directions that the base plate is supposed to be 1" 5/8th away from the roof liner. Well I strait up ignored that part, unwrapped the tape and set er' down! Not knowing that 3M tape is EXTREMELY HARD TO GET OFF, my dad and I went at the paint and base plate for 30 minutes trying to get it off. We finally did.

Got everything secured and it doesn't rattle, move, anything when going down the highway.

However I don't appreciate it when the jerk football players at my school think its funny to
1. Get on my roof during school and take selfies and
2. Jump on and shake the whole car when I'm backing up to go home. :censored:

In happier news my Dad got the lift ordered! I'll be going to a local shop sometime next week to get it installed. Hope it turns out well!

Does anyone know if these Smittybilt tactical seat covers could fit on 4th gen seats? My friend has a JK Jeep, sent him the link to the covers, 5 minutes later said he bought them.

I will be taking the runner to a local shop on Monday to get the lift installed. My dad ordered it so I don't the specifics of the parts but if the lift comes out good, i'll be happy.

We are also ordering the Bajarack with the light cage, CBI ditch lights, and maybe a few other things this week. Main reason is because my dad thinks that my build is distracting me from school (Not really, A's and B's student) so he said that he wants to go ahead and get it all done.

The ladder has been holding up very well in the past 5 days. Going to get a wrench and tighten all the nuts and bolts again just to make sure.

So got a few things done today.

T4R decals came in yesterday so slapped those on and they look great! thanks momo.75

I ended up ordering the Smittybilt universal seat covers in OD green and I really like the functionality of it. Flashlight, knife, compass, even mounted my walkies.

Also slapped on an Oasis sticker that I just got in. Currently my favorite band. (Todays music sucks!)

After that, ran the runner straight to what-a-burger.

So ya, pretty good day.

Looks like an awesome build

Sweet 4runner! Congrats! Nice to have those father son experiences. Im sure it makes the modding that much better.

Nice setup. Where did you order the gobi ladder from? That's pretty fast shipping compared to the websites I've seen it on.

Thanks! Well my dad is out of town a lot working so we really haven't been able to work on it together. Now he's wanting the shop to install everything! Trying to fight him on it because I want to build it, not some guy in a garage!

Thanks ya! I called Gobi directly to order it. They said it would ship in about a week. Week and a half later I got it in the mail.
