Baja Rack is confirmed, coming tomorrow. :boom:

I will get it in the shop hopefully this week and get the rack, lights, etc all up and running.

Hopefully next weekend I will get my Nikon SLR and take some pictures of it.

Also I am now looking at rear flood lights for when I reverse at night. (Great, yet another project)

Anyone know of some good LED rear lights that would be good?

I'm pretty sure [MENTION=93434]gshadow325[/MENTION] has some good reverse lights, and [MENTION=50591]gaterose[/MENTION] put some duallys in his reflectors, they looked great

So Bajaracks lead time is definitely better than Gobi, ordered my rack September 8th and it shipped last thursday.

I didn't fully read your post before I posted, I was just posting up a link to the info wnelax was talking about.

Can't speak in certainty for the BajaRack, but on my Gobi the spoiler blocks most of the usable light cast from the roof rack. That's why I added the ones in the bumper to mine.

WOW, Damn that is a long wait! especially for the money a GOBI rack is, I would expect better than that! Glad I went with Baja now.

That is something to keep in mind then. I have done a little searching. What I would prefer is 2 6" LED bars on the rack kinda like what The Josh has now on the back of his.

It would make things cleaner and easier to check fuses for sure when something goes out. I used a blue sea fuse box for mine.

Yeah - get a bussman relay box. It's a little more expensive than the blue seas, but it includes 5 relays and consolidates everything into a clean and water-tight package. Check out my build toward the most recent pages for more info.

correct, i did mine a little differntly too. took the whole reflector out. @gatorose did give me the idea and the inspiration.

i dont think there is a need for a fusebox. a clean install can be achived with a few relays and proper size fuses.

Took the runner to a local shop to get the rack and lights installed.

Trying to load the rack in the truck was fun... NOT

Anyway, hopefully will get it back tomorrow and will take SLR shots.

For now, the SLK 55 AMG is my car :faint:

Although my 16 year old stupid side of me is really wanting to drive my Grandpas Jeep. Sigh.
-This thing only has 7,000 miles. Don't ask me how, my Grandpa just never drove it since 2002

So after 3 weeks of getting all the parts, orders being shipped, and two whole days at the shop... THE RACK IS ON



I am very impressed with the Baja Rack, looks fantastic especially with the light cage and four Lightforce 170's.

It doesn't change the driving dynamics at all, there is noticeable wind noise from the light cage but it isn't to the point where I want to rip it off. I was driving at 60mph when observed.

So I got to switch on the 170's and DAMN they are bright!!!!! They are 12v halogens and they are WAY brighter than my high beam on the headlights. Very impressive.

Now we talk about a few disappointments....

When my dad and I were loading the box into the 4Runner to take to the shop, he dropped it and there is a large dent at the rear. I was very pissed when I saw it but Dad talked me into that a few dings here and there adds character.

The wiring for the lights is a huge headache, I'm not even going into how I would have done it TOTALLY different but they got the job done.

Anyway showed my Jeep friends and one of them has 2 ditch lights, blew him out of the water with my 170's.

Can you tell me what cb mount that is?

Can you post a picture of the trunk opened and how close the top of the antenna gets to the rack?

I have a hi lift on the right and I also carry around my roof top tent too. So I need to know it will clear that.

The CB mount is a Comet RS720, I would recommend getting it from American Radio Supply, they are speedy and great to work with.

I've posted a couple of pictures and the antenna should totally be able to clear the roof rack. It might not if you have a very long antenna (4+feet) but in general it clears.

How do you like you hi-lift? I'm thinking of getting one and also putting it on the right side of the rack.

So after having an exciting night of Halloween parties, I had a little but more experience driving with the rack and lights.

Using the 170's are real fun to blind your friends, helpful in neighborhoods trying to find the friend that you forgot in a penguin suit to take to the party, etc.

On a serious note, again, there is wind noise but that is expected.

I'm not sure if the on board computer is not accurate but before I was getting average 18 mpg, now 16. Something to keep in mind.
