Car Audio/alarm Shops IN/NEAR San Francisco

I'm looking for a good car audio/alarm shop in San Francisco or close to San Francisco.

I've been looking at different places, went to Motor Music for my amp install and they didn't do too great of a job. Ended up rewiring on my own and cutting like a foot of excess ground wire myself. So I'm not exactly sure if I want to go there to get my alarm installed.

I'm kind of looking for an alarm install and I'm kind of sketchy with motor music. Anyone know somewhere that does a good job?

Dont' know if you found a place or not yet. I would recommend Peter's Auto Radio on Lombard between Fillmore and Steiner and talk to Rick. (415)567-4678 is their #.
He did my 4Runner when I got it new in '95 and he did my upgrade in '01. I'm new here so I don't have any pics or info on my install yet. I was very satisfied both times and will be sending him my other car soon.

cool. They're closed on weekends though so it kind of sucks but I'm going to take a look at custom car alarms on van ness today.

Didn't realize Custom was still around - I moved out of the City a few years ago. I used to know the owners at Custom, don't know if its the same owner now. I'd get good prices on equipment there, but never let them do the work. Didn't trust their work. Same thing at Bay Car.
Peter's does quality work - but you pay for it. He just started closing Saturdays recently.

Didn't answer your other thread because I saw this one.

Custom Car Alarms use to have multiple locations. They're pretty expensive, they installed a stereo for us twice. My uncle used Bay Car before, they seem ok. I've gone to Sound Systems (don't know if they're still around) on Ocean Ave, in the same complex as Blockbuster, but they tend to charge for every little bit. IMO, Sound Systems suck. You can try Mach III on Ocean Ave as well. I know several people who went there and they didn't have anything negative to say.

Which ever shop you go, make sure they put their warranty in writing. If you're going to compare prices, make sure they're going to install the same amount of things and cover the same items. Because Sound Systems charged me an extra $20 to wire in flashing lights (f*ing crock of BS) and they didn't wire up a hood pin switch. Automotive Techniques did good work, but they're not around anymore.

Also, make sure they loom (a split wire tubing) on all wires under the hood for both a stealth clean factory look and to protect the wires.

We used some of these shops before, and I was really young. Now, I'll just do it myself.

Yup. Went to custom car alarms, decided to let them do it. They gave me the alarm installed for 10.5x. Including everything basic, keyless, start fail thing, flashing lights etc.

They crimped but they seemed to do a job job. They loomed everything and wired tied everything under the dash. I feel a lot mroe protected now. Thanks a lot guys.
