Thanks for the link. I purchased from another seller on Amazon that was using the same identical photos. It was absolute trash. One side did not have the protective film you remove so it was already scratched up.

That's always a risk. You'll see in their blurb that you can contact them for a free replacement if it arrives damaged or not intact....

I doubt I'll spend $199 on screen protectors in my entire life.

So new member here with brand-new 2023 4Runner TRD Off-Road Premium. I stumbled upon this thread while researching some about the touch screen. My question is, if there are polishes and sprays which can remove screen scratches, then why is a protector needed? I understand if there's the risk of say a major scratch, but if you have the kind of scratches that are invisible unless looked at from a specific angle and lighting, why not just remove them with the polish or spray say once a month?

A YouTuber had a cool trick to prevent scratching the infotainment screen and gauge cluster lens...use a Swiffer Duster to get rid of any dust before you wipe with a microfiber cloth. Wiping dust off with a cloth is what's scratching the cheap plastic.

Exactly. As long as there isn't a haze that forms when the sun hits it, don't sweat it. Our '99 SR5 gauge cluster lens is all scratched up, but only matters if I look for it.

My screen does not have any scratches on it.

BTW I read on some other forums that those screen protectors can or will leave sticky goop on your screen that is basically impossible to get off. I will live with mine the way it came from the factory.

Hopefully not! I have a screen protector film on my phone and had to have it replaced because the dipshit that put it on got it crooked. The first one peeled off residue free.

In the past, on MATTE finished Dell computer monitors, I've used Magic Erasers with amazing results. You have to go slow with light pressure, but it will blend scratches completely away. AGAIN, this is for matte finish; nothing that has been AR coated or is glossy.

I've got a 2018 ORP that I've retrofitted with a 2022 3.0 Entune head unit. When I received it, I noticed some super light scratches on one area. Really not bad enough to try the method above. These infotainment screens look to be matte finished, but I don't think I've got the cojones to try.
