Only use the touchless car washes or the self serve pressure washer places. The hand car washes are no good and they put greasy armor all everywhere and the ones with big arse brushes scratch your paint without a doubt, no thank you. Otherwise I do a hand wash once a week.

I was always told to use car wash soap and a small brush. Then use a wheel sealant. There are many brands out there now.

Never tried it myself but this stuff is supposed to be outstanding....and semi permanent....and a bit expensive as a result

I did see another post of yours about Sonax full effect wheel cleaner. Might try that too.

I wasn't able to find a "sealant" at autozone. Can one of you recommend a selant that works well.

Go to the site called Autopia, those guys are hardcore into detailing. The have a section on cleaning, prep, polish and coating tires and rims.

But then again I have washed my 2010 TE twice since I bought it new. The layer of dirt and mud I'm hoping will protect the paint from damage :biggrin2:

They have others as well. The new Collinite Metal wax looks interesting and is cheaper.

Don't get detailing stuff from stores. This site and autogeek.net are great and give you a ton of how-to info as well. They always run sales.

+ 1 to what philly said. I use the hand spray car wash exclusively, and frequently. I've got better things to do than agonize over special soaps, polishes, waxes, yada yada. My truck is always clean, but i won't be a slave to it. It's a transportation appliance fer gosh sake.

Gotta love blizzard pearl though - in 53 years of driving, i've never owned a paint color so easy to care for.
