Like someone already mentioned, I think a cover for your runner would be your best physical solution. Get one of those thick ones too. I know it is a pain in the @ss to put it on and remove it but at least you finish is protected from claw scratches and such. On the plus side, it also protects your truck from the elements to a degree. Since your car port is open, perhaps there is some kind of awning or tarp material you can fashion to close off the open sides? But I guess this would equally be a hassle since you would need to get in and out.

You know what really pisses me off? All the damage on my vehicles is never done by me:
- People smack into it in parking lots = I get to pay insurance deductables/buff out more scratches to get it fixed.
- Punks key the shit out of it = I get to pay insurance deductables to get it fixed
- Some drops something on the fender = I get to buff out more scratches.
- Cat crawls all over it= I get to buy cleaning products and waste time/money buffing out scratches.
Now, why can't *I* destroy *my* vehicles? Why do other people take it upon themselves? If I paid for it, shouldn't I get to screw it all up myself?
In other words, why do I have to accomodate someone else's problem (ie cat) by spending money on covers/spray/whatever to keep the thing off MY vehicle in MY driveway?
A .22 shell here and there is a lot cheaper than 5 car covers lol

Don't worry, I think I made it clear I wasn't planning on hurting any cats, despite the kidding around. I'm not trying to make enemies here. Like SoCalRunner said, people are just venting, b/c it really is very frustrating to deal with. And as I said earlier, there are even some cats I like.abin said:

Tell me about it! When I first got my 4Runner, I would park far away from the other cars. Still do half the time, though I get fussed at by my girlfriend. Yet, buggies still find their way to my 4Runner. It's like shopping carts have new-car magnets built in.Northof49 said:

your best bet is using the moth balls. Speaking from experience with the same cat problem, a friend suggest the crushed balls. It worked like a charm. That chemical smell will drive them away even some humans (lol j/k). It is the least costly of all and the most humane. Give it a try what have you got to loose.

I don't think you need to post random examples of animal cruelty/poaching to convince anyone here.....as already said, we're venting, because it's just one more piss-off thing that happens to our vehicles.
For example, I would also like to "kill" the guy who keyed my Matrix.....but in reality I don't think it would be worth going to jail to avenge my car's paint job....

True, but I think a deterrent may be my best option. I don't want to start ticking off the neighbors this early. I don't have any serious scratches quite yet, though after saying that I'm guaranteed to have some in the morning.
I'm not angry, you just seem to be trying to make a point, when we are trying to explain that you don't need to. The intersection is you saying it is precautionary, which I take as you sending warnings. If I'm mistaken, I apologize and you can feel free to post all the stories you want. I'm just trying to keep this thread from becoming a flame war between animal rights people and bb gun shooters :arrow:
