all you need is cable, heavy duty spring, i would go with the 4' antenna, then a ground wire to the antenna it self

Got my CB and all related accessories from Amazon...here's the list of items you'll need..

4' FIRESTICK II TUNABLE TIP BLACK $16.75
Firestik Stud With Screw-On Coaxial Termination for Antenna Mirror Mounts - Firestik K-4A $5.71
SPRING SHOCK SS HD UP TO 5' $8.59
FireStik K-8A 18 foot single antenna coax cable $15.40 sold by West Coast Mall

You might also need the UHF 90 degree elbow depending on how much room you have at the back of the CB.

90* connector from CB to cable. Cable and then Firestick or Wilson Silverload. These have the pull off plastic cap with a tunning screw at the end.

Did everyone get the 4 or 5 ft antenna? Those all appear to stick up to high for parking garages. I don't fashion myself a mall-crawler but I will need to be able to drive my vehicle inside of a indoor garage (movies, airport ect).

Did anyone try the 3 foot firestick antenna? If so please post some pictures.

4 ft Firestiks stick up about 1' 8" above the roof line when mounted just below the tail light using Driffter's mount. the idea's to have atleast 2/3 of the antenna above the roof line for optimal performance, but even with the 4 ft firestik you can't achieve that, but it's long enough to do the job.

You can use some quick disconnect, some are internal and external locking type. It's gonna be a tedious routine to remove the antenna everytime you go on a low overhead though.

I'm still debating a quick disconnect because I might be able to use my garage again. It's a pretty tall antenna when you have a spring, too. Sticks up at least a foot passed an already tall 4Runner...

It's also a theft-proof way of ensuring you don't get your antenna stolen by having the ability to disconnect it easily from the mount and securing it inside the truck.:thumb3:

I just bend the antenna by the spring and tucking it under my rear spoiler everytime I go in and out of my low entry carport....often times I still forget.

Can I get on the list for another one of these? It seems like someone in my house thought it was a piece of scrap metal and threw it out. Let me know when you get a change to make more and I will send the money right away

Payment send for this last one...

Thanks.

Hey Driffter, I sent payment for the last passenger side mount back on 7/16. Here it is over a month later & I haven't heard anything from you...PM'd you, posted here in the thread, emailed you...nothing. Can you let me know what the deal is? Or PayPal my money back?

Can anyone who reads this thread get in touch with Driffter? Help...

Hey Tinman, I texted Driffter for you. He's a good guy and my friend so don't worry, you'll either get your mount or your $ back. He just hasn't been on the forum for a while so I think he might not even know about your payment.

I'm going to driffter33's house on Saturday, first thing in the morning, to install my supercharger with him. If he still hasn't gotten to you by then, I will inform him.

Refunds have been issued to all waiting parties. As of about 10 min ago. Tinman I'm not sore what happen to yours as it was sent. I will send you another when I get time to make some more. This being the 3rd one that has not arived looks like it will be cheaper forme to spend a bit more on shipping and use the box.

Brian thanks for the text.

I don't feel there is any need to post a bounch of excuses, just resolve the problems. :)

Thanks Brian for texting Driffter for me, & COB for your willingness to help as well. Much appreciated guys...

To Driffter: No harm, no foul man. Thanks for the speedy refund. I am interested in a mount when you have time to build some. I am also willing to help out with the higher cost of a better shipping method, if that helps. Just PM me or post up when you have more ready & we'll go from there.

Thanks guys.

Not that I know of. I have looked at the 4th gen but it and the 5th gen are both built in a way that would make it very. Hard to make a similar mount. There are more angles and less metal there to work with. Maybe someone with a full fab shop like outdoor logic could pull something off for the 4th/5th gens.

CB mount

Drifter,
