cb with swr way high

I have had to get a new cb...Installed and hooked it up with new cb, swr is in the red. I have a hatch mounted mount on my runner...Any trick to get this thing tuned correctly... It was calibrated right but still not where it needs to be....

how are you checking it?
built in gauges arent really to be trusted, especially for fine tuning.

i use a swr meter seperately

A VSWR that high means you've got something wrong.
Probably in the mount or the wiring (an open or short in the coax).

Assuming that the radio your replaced was working fine with an acceptable SWR? Anything else replaced; like mentioned above, the coax or power wires? What type of antenna?
