cbielat's 2011 SR5 Build Thread

Anther good run buddy! Time to start Prepping for NHOC lol JK but seriously start making the list because you know it's going to be here sooner than later! Were definitely going to do a couple runs before then though:thumb:

Always is my friend. I think about "the list" everyday lol. I just don't even know where to start. Hell yeah we are.

Man, looked like a blast. Can't wait to unvirginize[emoji12] my 4R off-road (other than the local muddpuddled construction site)

We're there any stock rides there? Curious since I'm stock ride height with 275's.

I just purchased my '14 SR5 around a month before the run (had an FJ prior). I'm running all stock except 285/70/17 BFG's. I ran mostly green trails with some blues with no problems. If I had some skids and sliders I would have done more challenging trails.

Chris, it was nice to meet you. I was checking out your 4R when you were airing down on Saturday. I was the one that was asking about your antenna mount and you were explaining why you cut so much off your rear bumper to leave room for flex. I was able to grab a pic (not the greatest) of you and the silver 4R (I believe Nyc-Runner).

Hey @Schocks! It was nice meeting you as well. Yes, I remember that. Thanks for the photos. Yeah, that was Jared. My wheeling partner in crime lol. I was a bit upset I didn't get as many as I did. So many missed photo opportunities. Forgot my Go Pro too lol.

5/19/2016 Some More Damage Stupidity

I don't 4Runner well lol. First time being able to wash the truck since FJNE/Rausch Creek. Sliders somehow pressed up and popped my rocker panels on both sides from front to back. Taking one of the spares out of my roof basket, I fumbled the wheel and it broke off my door handle. $87. Wonderful. Then I washed, clayed and waxed this money pit.

That's the problem when you take the pictures; you rarely get one of yourself in action!

You are brave to itemize everything that you've bought, My wife would kill me if she knew :hiding:

Yup, although my wife has started correcting me when I say "My $40k Suv..." "Um, you mean $50k truck right?" Maybe she actually has been paying attention along the way.

Ha yeah, I don't have anyone to consider when buying parts lol. It's mostly for me. Just something to have to keep me in check, although the list always seems to be growing. I guess you could say I own a $62K 4Runner.

Trying to narrow down some front end issues. Found my LCA uniball through bolt to be free spinning with a gap in-between the uniball cup and bottom mount.

You are making me feel less and less like going with LT up front...

Unrelated... Have you considered removing the rocker trim and getting sliders that tuck up properly... Just seems odd to have it like that on such a capable build...

Yeah, tons of maintenance. For sure. Just trying to find time. I'll be removing the rocker panels to cut and adjust the sliders and then welding them on. Been wanting to get rid of them for a long time. Should've went with the trail version from the start.

Yea, you will love it after... Much better clearance and the truck will also look much more balanced. I did put the shockworks trim on, but it is not necessary.

I'm thinking about putting bedliner on my flares next.

Really like your front bumper.. Best execution I have seen.

I'll just leave it with it as is when it's off. Thanks. Yeah, I think so too. I was looking for the slimmest look.

5/26/2016 Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ

New tires came in today. 315/70/17 = 34.6" advertised. Needed something a bit more trustworthy in the sidewall department and a little larger than the Duratracs.

No doubt. My 315's should be here ~ mid June, and the plan to tub things out has already been formulated. It's going to be quite the process, but worth it I hope.
Best of luck amigo!

I forget I have an aftermarket front bumper now and was thinking about the cutting of the stock cover lol. I know I'll have to do the body mount chop. Almost attacked that last week. I'll definitely be needing to cut my fenders too.

From what I hear, having the LT installed up front will make your life easier as well, as I think you're able to push the whole assembly up further than the rest of us. There's a 5th gen here in town with 315 MTZ's and TC LT up front and I cannot believe the gobs of room he has between the back of the tire and the body mount. I'm pretty much maxed out on + Caster with a BMC and I don't have anywhere near that, even with a 285/70.
