cbielat's 2011 SR5 Build Thread

There definitely were a lot more better trails and sections we didn't get pictures of. It just gets annoying to keep stopping every so often when the whole crew is making quick work of more technical sections. Just want to keep the momentum moving along. But every time we say to each other, "damn, I wish we had taken some pictures of that line or that section". Never fails. That's why we need an "Overlander" with us lol. They're good for taking a shit load of pictures.

Haha, I hear that. I say that as a guy who likes the more difficult trails but also likes taking pics of things too.

Ocean State Jeepers Toy Run 12/3/17

Ocean State Jeepers Toy Run. Unfortunately, not many action shots were taken. Seems to be a reoccurring theme.

Replaced Tail Light 12/6/17

Threw in the 3rd new tail light(factory oem). Needed everything(housing, clips, sockets, nuts and bulbs). The damage caused a larger gap between the light housing and rear quarter panel sheet metal when installed. Until the next time...

cbielat have you run into any clearance issues with your spare tire being in the stock location while wheeling? Looking into getting a metal rear bumper and a rear tire carrier isn't really a viable option with a full time bike rack. Wanted to hear your thoughts since you seem to use your 4runner thoroughly :)

I don't have my spare in the factory location. It's a 35 so it won't fit. When I had the 33s, I kept one in that factory location. Just had to let more air out of it and then shove it between the aftermarket bumper's hitch and my aftermarket beefier panhard bar. I'd notice at times that it did drag here and there on certain things.

Damn, now I don't feel so bad about the dent in my rear passenger door. Still can't figure why someone put that tree there.

Only took me a couple of years but I finally went through your thread. Well done indeed and nice to see you enjoying RC.

Although you may want to take better care on your choice of friends.

Ahhh....got it. Where are you storing your spare tire now? Any regrets in not going with a spare tire carrier?

This is where it's been for years now. I guess I've gotten used to it. Only thing that gets annoying is whenever I have to change the tire while on a long trip(which happens often lol), I always have to take out my tent cot that I strap down to the tire which you can see in the bottom photo.

What brand bearing did you go with? When I had to replace one of my rear bearing/hub assembly I ended up going with Koyo Japan unit.
