I have an 04 SR5 V6 w/ 157,000 miles on it. My truck was running great. One afternoon, I was running an errand and when I came back out after about an hour, my truck wouldn't start. Just the funky dim lights and clicking ignition. I tried to jump it, and it wouldn't jump. Ended up getting it towed to the dealership and they saw that my year old battery's positive post was able to rotate. I replaced the battery in the dealers parking lot under warranty, as it was a Die-Hard AGM.
Anyway, when I started it up it shook pretty good for about 30 seconds and then went away. the CEL and VSC/TRAC off lights came on and stayed on. I drove it to home, everything was fine. Started it after 8 hrs. same thing shake for 30 sec. then runs fine. Pulled codes and had a #6 cylinder miss-fire. P0306 I cleared the codes and she ran fine for 2 days and then the same thing started. pulled code again , same thing. Ran fine after it warms up. Started it up this morning engine shake again for 30 seconds and CEL blinked for a couple of seconds and then went out, engine drove fine. What the heck??? Same exact problem. I will pull code again once it stays on. What would cause the eninge to shake (like a cylinder isn't firing) for 30 seconds (give or take a couple) and then run fine. No noticable loss of power. gas cap tight, ran great until the battery croaked .
I have read about the zero point calibration, but until the truck will start correctly, it will keep latching in VSC lights. I have read other threads where people have changed all sorts of different items to fix similar problems with minimal success. Things like catalytic converters, multiple O2 sensors, charcoal canisters, coil packs, spark plugs, etc. Could the engine ECU have been glitched with the weird voltages during the battery loss? Could a dealership reprogram it to factory? I am lost on this one. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.
