love those custom mounts.

picture size is great! on a nice 27" display, the picture size helps see the detail.

i am working hard to copy your rola rack style. saving a dollar a day!. definitely want a lower sitting roof rack so i can't wait to see how this turns out, and how it hugs the roof.

were you forced to remove the gutters due to complications or? preferred to have the gutters removed from the start?
Aren't you afraid that if you get in a front end collision your front end will get hurt without a bumper>?

I got it all mounted up now, It's sitting really low now, as low as possible without sitting on top of the roof, there is maybe 1/8" inch gap from the rack and roof, I can't even get my finger between it.
I decided to ditch the gutters because it would have been up higher. Although it would have been easier to just ultilize the gutters, since the tabs are moveable/adjustable. Honestly I thought about just using the gutters, however I'm glad I didn't. The mounts and rack are so solid I could grab the rack and shake the 4R back and forth. :thumb:

About the front bumper, it's still in place, I only removed the plastic valance from under the bumper, which really provides no protection at all if I were to get into a front end collision.

That low pro setup you have looks really good.

I had mine setup really low at one point, but when loaded up with camping gear and bashing around off road, the rack would flex enough to actually contact the roof. My rack is a cheapo stingray basket, so maybe yours won't flex like that, but I would definitely check it before you load it up and hit the trail.

Recently went camping/wheeling with [MENTION=73782]Slow_T4R[/MENTION] and his Bro-in-Law [MENTION=106932]Blazzin'[/MENTION] who has a sweet 4th Gen and it did very well on the trail, we all took the same lines too, and enjoyed the view on the way up. The weather was perfect, and checked out some new parts of the trail that I've never been to.
We had a killer time-

Thanks man, it's amazing what i could do with a cell-phone camera haha! Should be able to a get some really good shots with your Nikon next time we go up- Can't wait for the next one!

Car seat safety mod

We recently bought our 1 year old daughter a new car seat and we had no where to anchor down the safety straps. So i found this car sear anchor kit on ebay for around $10 and it works perfectly. Easy mod to do.

BTW- I have 3 car seats in the back of my 4Runner, with not even an inch to spare, but we make it work and all of the kids are safe.

Here's a couple of pics that may help, but it's pretty straight forward. Finding a place to bolt it down was the biggest factor for me too. But I said eff-it and I just used a self-tapping bolt. The spot where I installed it is nice and thick. Im sure there is a better method to mount it, but it worked out good for me-:lever:

That is pretty cool. Do you mind posting a link to the kit?

Do you have any more pictures of the install? What did you do to make sure the bolts don't pull through the body sheet metal?

Did you have any other safety concerns? I've thought about this before but never seen anyone do it.

Thanks man, it's a small mod but it made a world of difference with securing my baby's car seat. I bolted it in a spot where the bolt wouldn't just rip out, the area where I mounted is perfect as you can see in the pics it is pretty thick. I also pulled it with all of my weight (200lbs) and strength with no moving or budging. Previously before this my Wife and I did have safety concerns but not anymore, we feel much better about the whole safety deal now.

I was going to post a link, however the seller i got it from sold it through auction and was a 1-time sell. If you go to ebay and search for "Child seat anchor kit" or "Car seat anchor" there is a bunch that pop up, most go for $20-$30. They are all a univeral type. really hope this helps, I haven't seen many people do this either.

New Company Car!! New Toyota in the family!

Well I recently received my new work car (6th one in 8 years) all of which have been Honda's (1 Accord, & 5 CR-V's) and can't complain at all about Honda's reliability. Never had any problems with any of them.

But this new 2014 Rav-4 is simply Bad ass! Technology wise it's up to date and state of the art, and is a blast to drive with it's 6-speed sport shifter. I was allowed to pick out the exterior/interior colors and just got the windows tinted. I'm feeling a bit spoiled!

Here's some of the standard features-

-Rear back-up camera
-Integrated Bluetooth / voice command / usb hub
-Rubber floor mats including rear cargo area
-Sport / Eco mode
-6 speed sport shifter
-Steering wheel controls phone/audio
-new car smell!
-cupholders!!

Went to go check out my buddys new to him 1st gen he recently bought. We had a little fun around his property, and did some canal wheeling!! :naughty:
