Center Console Knobs 1/2 Working

This is my first official post so please be patient with me:)

I have replaced some of my center console bulbs before. That time, however, the entire light was out. As you can see in the picture, the arrows still light up but everything else on the left knob and middle knob are out. Do I still replace the bulb or is this some kind of wiring issue?

Also, does anyone know what goes in this hole above the P? Is this something I can purchase? I know it is not necessary but I like to keep everything up-to-date the best I can!

Edit - I have no idea what I am doing wrong trying to insert pictures. I have searched the forum for instructions but perhaps I am using the wrong key words. I am including links if that helps.

I would delete that first image in your post, its so big that it makes it impossible to view on a screen...

that being said the thing above the P on the shift lever is the shift over ride, if the vehicle has no power and you need to shift into neutral this button comes in handy.
 
What's above the P is what belongs; that's the shift lock override. Under normal conditions, the shifter is prevented from moving unless the brake is pressed. This button overrides that interlock for circumstances where the interlock couldn't be deactivated from pressing the brake pedal (maintenance, etc). There is supposed to be a small plastic cap covering it.
 
As far as your lighting issue goes, jostling wires during a bulb change could have temporarily fixed what wasn't a bulb issue to begin with.

Best solution is to break out the multimeter and start testing continuity on bulbs and voltages on harnesses.

i have found it so common that when installing one new bulb that any other bulb next to it goes out a short time later so i just replace them all when one goes out. think about it, they lasted 12 years so its time for all new bulbs so you dont have any go out again. plus new bulbs may not put out the same amount of light so replacing all maintains a uniform look to the lighting
 
I found a pack of OEM replacement bulbs for the HVAC controls on eBay. It's a little fiddly, but not super complicated to get in there and replace them. As others have said probably a good idea to replace them all in one go.
