Change lift or Modify?

Question to the crowd, I have a 2014 Trail w/ KDSS. Current set up is TRDPRO suspension with Toytec top plate on fronts (no it hasn't spontaneously combusted either). Ride is good but want more lift for the future.

Should I sell TRD kit and buy OME front and rear with UCA? If I do will I regret going OME? OME for the $$ other are to much.

OR

Should I put 14in 550# or 600# on the TRD fronts and some sway away or icon rear coils and UCA?

FYI I have done the research and the 4 and 5th notch on 6112 are same as TRD shocks 1 and 2 notch. 6112 come with 14in 600# coils. stock TRD are 12in 550#.On the lower perch at full droop the coils measures 11 7/8. IE 1/8 in of preload....

Thought? Concerns? Am I crazy?

Are the TRD front shocks and the 6112s the same length? Are the rears the same length?

Do you have a spring or top plate spacer? big difference between the two.

For stock travel/LCAs...600# springs are good for stock weight plus armor, 650 also work but will support a plate bumper, 700 are for fully armored with winch.... Springs are only part of it though, the valving needs to be matched.

OME nitrocharger stuff is good. It's rock solid reliable with no maintenance at all, but also a little on the rough side and offers a bit less travel...

I vote spend the money and do a coil over setup, but it depends on your priorities. Otherwise, you might be back asking question again about to go to your 3rd suspension. It's often better and more cost effective to do it once and have the flexibility to adjust for future changes.

From a call to Bilstein and everything I have been able to research yes the 6112 and TRD are equal in travel. Bilstein was unable to verify valving being different or not. Guy at Bilstein was not the most helpful...

From measuring prior to install "IF I remember correctly" they are the same length all around. TRD front vs 6112 and TRD rear vs 5160.

I have a top plate .5in thick spacer not the TRD/BAJA spacer to preload the coil.

Talking with King they said that 50# either way on their stuff should not be drastic enough for a re-valve immediately. They said they play with the PSI first. But I do know I'm dealing with Bilstein TRD stuff not Kings BIGG difference.

The weird thing is that every coilover except the stock TRD has around 2in of preload. But the stock TRD has a 12in coil in a 11 7/8in area. Also when fully compressed the coil is FARR from coil bind. From my calculations a 14in 550# spring would not bind plus would give me 2in of preload. compared to nothing. The 6112s at the same perch and 600# 14in spring offers 2.5 in lift. I could do this all and be for nothing is my only concern.

I know OME is not premium coilovers and adjustability is not the same. But $$ is on point for what u get it seems like. Travel #s for the rear are equal 5160's. Travel #s for the fronts from what I can find are same to 6112's. If I got the Toytec rear coil or SAW rear with OME60080 they are actually 25mm(1in) longer travel over 5160s.

I have KDSS and don't need or want long travel for what I do offroading. Some rocks nothing crazy fast. Im looking to get 3in front lift, function off-road at a good price and same for the rear. Im thinking the OME (toytec rear option) set up will fit the bill and last a lifetime.

I would vote the true coilover route too but this is the grocery getter and weekend warrior. It hard to financially justify the overall gain plus I don't think I would use it to its potential. I can sell the TRD set up on here for what OME costs plus my time to install/ alignment.

I have looked at FOX, King, Icon, ADS and Radflo. FOX and Kings are similar from what I can tell except Kings only offers resi's no IFP. ADS was to much money for no ext travel options w/ UCAs and only RESI's again. I like the idea of the RADFLO 2.5 front and rears with out RESI's. $$ wise its about 3 times the OME. Would I notice a 3x better ride or offload ability? Who knows...

I appreciate the input and would love to have RESI's and unibal UCA's. But I'm realistic and know SPC uppers and either OME or my current with some new coils and a rear lift would be more than enough for me.

Sorry for being long winded but hope it makes sense.

THX again

Our Dobinsons parts would work well for you, $790 for the struts/shocks and coils, you choose between 1.5 to 3.0" lift, and add a diff drop kit for $40. I have another post with the details of the long travel struts and shocks, and we have a big range of coils to suit everyone's needs.
