Changing 1/4 vent glass to full glass?

Hello all.. I'm looking at changing the drivers and passengers doors to full glass instead of normal glass with the 1/4 vent glass.

Anyone know how to go about it or what glass to will fit?

Go to a junk yard and swap out the guts in the door shell. It should all be a simple swap.

its harder then you would think, you might be better off looking for some doors that already have full window.

yep, full complete doors would be easier.

and if your vented doors are in good shape, you should be able to sell them easily.

Pulling the wing window and bracket itself is not hard, but I can imagine that getting the old window tracks out of the door itself and replacing them with full-width tracks might be a bit of a hassle. I'd definitely look for replacement doors before I decided to try and convert mine.

Why are you changing? I like my wing windows.

Can seem to find any in Australia. My runner has been painted and the 1/4 vent has never has never sat in its position properly.

I always thought the glass was from a 2nd gen 4runner. The vent assembly isn't that hard to get out, 4 screws and 1 bolt.

Also, what year 4Runner came out with the full glass? Maybe that would narrow down my search

Its acctually extremely easy, all you need is the regulators and windows themselves and of coarse the rubbers, can all be pulled from a junkyard. there is a 10mm bolt under the door panal that holds the bottom of the vent track and a phillips head screw that is under the weather stripping at the top of the vent window frame. other then that its a normal regulator and glass replacement

oh, and the vent windows arnt a year search, there a option, also the full width window track uses the same on outside of door, towards the inside of door the track bolts up from the door jamb by the door latch, once unbolted it slides down then out, it is held in place up top by a tounge and groove design

It's an easy job, you just need to get all the parts from a donor 4Runner.
The door shells are the same.

Maybe all Australian delivered T4R's came with the quarter window vent because I have never seen a full window on a 1st Gen in Australia.

Anyone want to ship over 2 doors? lol
