Changing tailgate

Where is the easiest place to disconnect the electrical for a tail gate swap? The tailgate or the truck?

Tailgate. Pull the rubber grommet out, then there is a white plastic piece that sort of holds the grommet it if I recall correctly. Pull that, then there is a clip for the harness right there. Quick & easy.
