The dealer eventually called me back and wanted to know when I was coming in. I told them that I had no intention of doing so and that they shouldn't wait for me. That was two days ago. I'm in Northern VA and haven't had any 703 area code numbers call here. So I guess they've given up?
I'm still anxious because when I did talk to them earlier they said that I hadn't canceled my extended warranty. There's more to this story. When I initially purchased the vehicle I took the extended warranty they offered ($1800 for some third party deal-it was refundable if you didn't use it...) I went in maybe a week ago and canceled it. When they first called me it seemed like they had no knowledge of that. Which feels so much more slimy. The more I think about it the less sympathetic I am for them. I guess I'll have to call them back at some point and see what the deal is with the warranty. I'd much rather get a real one from Sean for half that price.
I take it you have already taken delivery of the vehicle so think of it this way: you got a good deal.
So are the original deal and extended warranty 2 seperate items or documents? Did you pay for them seperately? Great if they are because then you don't have to resign the complete deal. Maybe you can put a hold on the warranty payment if you used your credit card? Either way, don't delay in calling to follow up on the warranty cancellation. If they mention anything more about the actual deal, politely tell them it is done so drop it. Worst case, pay for the warranty, never use it and get your money back in the end.
