Questoions about changing wheels and tires

I am planning to put new wheels and tires on my 4Runner limited. Do I need go to dealer to register TPMS ID code? if I put the orginal wheels and tires back after, do I need register TPMS code again at dealership?

Just swap the TPMS sensor from your limited wheels to whatever the new wheel is and you're good to go.

+1. I replaced my 20" limited wheels with 17" wheels from an SR-5 that I found on ebay. The tire shop simply switched the sensors from the old tires to the new set. No problems.

What are you planning to do with your Limited rims? I have an SR5 and have been thinking about putting the limited rims on it...they seem hard to find

Anybody got an answer to the OP's question? I bought a set of TPMS off eBay for my new wheels and tires and was wondering the same thing. Can all eight sensors be recognized or do you need to reprogram each time you swap sets of wheels/tires?

Thanks

I'm actually selling them, with the tires. They're on the Minneapolis Craigslist right now. First $800 takes 'em there. However, I'll let them go for $700 to any T4R.org member. Just gotta pick 'em up in scenic Duluth Minnesooooota...

Sorry to bring this back from the dead... I'm doing the opposite, but was curious if you needed a "fit kit" to swap the sensors to the new rims? Just called the dealer and he said something about needing a mount specific to the limited rims. What tire shop did you end up using? Thanks

I picked up a set of '15 LE wheels and tires and called a different dealership (kind of funny how they all have different prices and different stories). They were able to directly swap the TPMS from my SR5 wheels into the LE wheels no problem. All in all the guy hooked me up for $90 for everything including mounting and balancing then trashing my old tires. Now I need to sell my SR5 wheels.
