Have you "seafoamed" your system. I had all the same lights come on and had a shop tell me to replace my cats for a couple thousand dollars. Took it to a different shop they Seafoamed the system and the lights disapeared. I did not put new cats.
Also verify that your head gasket is'nt slowing starting to go.

No I haven't seafoamed yet. I really thought about doing that but some of the write ups were questionable. I'll review some more and see if I should do that.

BACK AT SQUARE ONE. Now with the ABS light on as well. This is getting ridiculous..
I'm not having a good feeling about my 04 T4R (V6) after reading this thread..
Last week my check engine light, VSC trac and VSC off lights all came on.. Took to my shop , codes came back as Cat bank 2. He said that there's the possibility that the codes were bogus so he cleared them out and said let me know if they come back on.. Well, they came back on today.. Im taking it in for him to look at in the am..
I'm thinking that it may be the gas cap.. (even tho the code read Cat Bank 2) b/c both times the lights came on I had just filled up a couple hours prior.. hoping for an easy fix on this one...

I had both cats bad. P0420 and p0430 i think i use the o2 simulator and havent had them come back. What are your exact codes?

Replace both Left and Right O2 sensers bank 1 and bank 2 all four, then do a zero point calibration on it and you will be just fine.

I have the same problem with my 05'. One day the check engine, ABS, and both VTAC lights came on. I pulled up the codes and it said I had a very small EVAP leak. I cleared all the codes and about two days later they came back on. Checked the codes and now it said I have a gross leak in my EVAP system. Cleared them again (mostly cause i dont like looking at them on the dash haha) and when it came back on about about 2 or 3 days later it was back to very small leak. I have a fealing it is my gas cap and everytime i take it off and put it back on it either opens up the leak more or closes it more. I have ordered a new gas cap to see if that is the problem since that would be a very cheap fix. Ill get back to you all with the results. Good luck!

Have no idea what you are possibly talking about but an O2 sensor change doesn't fit either of these two scenarios.
RunnerJeff: Did you replace the O2 sensors with OEM Denzo's?

The VSC trac and VSC off come on when ever there is any CEL so it helps to do the zero point after you replace the O2 sensors. We have the Toyota zero point calibration machine but you can do it with a paper clip just as easy. I know it doesn't sound right but it just works for some reason we have found out.

Guys, yes I have replaced the O2 sensors, the issue was still there. So then I bought the o2 simulator and that is still installed. I have checked my gas cap like 2309843948 times I feel like. But it comes on spontaneously. Like whenever I am driving, BAM, comes on..I will try the zero point calibration though. It's really a pain in the ass when they come on. And it's not just the lights, the system is activated. when the streets are wet and the right rear tire spins, nothing else engages, like it should.

My codes were those exact ones, the latest times I have checked. I had the MAF sensor code come on but my circuit board was bad and I had that replaced around August.

I have had the new gas cap installed for over a week now and have put about 200 miles on it (went on a short road trip) plus daily driving to work and home and I haven’t had any issues with the lights coming back on or any codes. The new gas cap seems to have fixed the EVAP leak I was experiencing. Not sure if that’s going to be the same fix for everyone, just thought I would throw that out there in case it can help anyone else. Bought a Toyota OEM Gas cap in original packaging on Amazon for 20 dollars.

Just took my '08 4 runner in for the check engine, ABS, and both VTAC lights on. Mechanic, not dealer read the code and computer said large vacuum leak. He checked gas cap and determined it was too loose when tightened . Replaced cap and alarm lights cleared. Hope it stays off.

Ok, some of you may think I'm crazy but I had this happened to me last night and was able to fix it relatively easily.
Let me preface with my 1st go around with this - last winter I had this same exact problem. I was driving up near keystone on a super cold/snowy day. Stopped at an autozone immediately and had them pull codes - something generic for one of the o2 sensors (I don't recall which bank or upstream/downstream). I dumped some fuel system treatment (Lucas) and fueled up. Codes went away magically. I took it to the dealer (as I need an oil change anyway) but they could not replicate or find the codes. Didn't think much of it because I really couldn't get it to come up again. Fast forward to this past summer, had the "fuel system flushed" and the dealer burnout one of my o2 sensors which they replaced - I did not tell them about the prior issue otherwise they might have dumped that cost on me. But since it was "fine" when I came in and happened on their dime - they ate it. GoodGuy dealership.
Fast forward again to last night. Needed to get fuel and the wife was with me. It was cold so when I turned the car off, I left key in ACC/On position so the residual heat from core would keep cabin warm. Here is the sequence of how I believe I caused the problem:
1) With engine running, turned key towards off but stopped at "On' position, then push forward to "ACC"
2) Proceeded to fill tank with car still in ACC position
3) Replaced gas cap, closed fuel door
4) Started engine from ACC position
5) BOOM - error codes
Here is the sequence of how i fixed the problem:
1) Turned over engine - verified codes still present
2) Shut engine down
3) Turn key to ACC
4) Remove gas cap
5) replace gas cap
6) Turn to OFF position
7) Start Car - codes cleared
*Note before I tried this, I restarted the engine two separate times, each time verifying the gas cap was tight, just not in the above sequence. Also, my gas cap is new as of this summer.
Could this have been all a coincidence? Who knows but my check engine and vsc/trac lights are off :bounce:

Doubtful it's little more than a coincidence. It takes more than just turning the key on and off a few times to clear ODBII DTCs (the gas cap thing won't have much benefit as the EVAP system doesn't kick in that quickly.)
VSC Trac/VSC Off/CEL After Washing?!?!
OK, so twice in the past three months, I got the VSC codes right after washing (actually just light rinsing) the truck. Didn't wash the engine bay or under the truck, just the body. The codes eventually went away after about 5 restarts of the engine. It's an 03 SR5 4WD with 90K miles. I bought it used in the spring of 2014 so I don't know much about the truck's history. Could it be water getting past the gas cap? :noidea:

guys I got 2 codes P0420 and p0430
i got this after I welded my manifold and forgot conect o2 sensor after i installed exhaust manifold back .
What does codes mean ? How I could fix that . I have no traction control and living in cold alberta .
There is no egg smell . Car runs great !

are the o2 sensors hooked back up now? If not, connect them and clear the codes and see if that solves the issue.
yeah I have connected them . CEL comes on after 2 or 3 days
